I'm sorry to have missed this.
A true character regardless of whether we disagreed (often) or agreed (rarely) never went away with any ill-feeling.

RIP Smiffy

Ringo Starr ate my hamper.

Echo that.

Smiffy was a character and I remember clearly when he had his accident and what a life changer that was. Up to that point he was controversial, funny, articulate and argumentative but all meant with genuine passion and a love of Rangers.

RIP Smiffy, I will have a quiet pint for you on the opening day of next season.

Wow, It'so amazing that so many remember him and for the kinds words.

He always liked a wind up and was always laughing, he was never hateful to anyone apart from Chelsea lol.

I have a a lot of his Rangers stuff and a Smiffy7 tee shirt from I think a message board before this one, I'll be wearing it today watching the game on tv.

Thank you all, you have all made me smile... with a few little tears too.

Have a great day
U'R'sssss

So sorry to hear of your loss. I was away when you first posted this sad news, and didn't want to rush a reply until I came home.

My heart goes out to you and yours on your loss. Your father was a class act, and I hope that the many tributes you've read on here give you a glimpse of the high regard in which he was held.

We are a family in our club and, while we would never presume to replace the families into which we are all born, the bond that we share is real and undeniable. Your father was a huge part of our own particular family and, as you can see from the heartfelt tributes, he will be fondly remembered for many years.

I can only hope that that is some small solace to you all.

RIP Smiffy.

Look after yourself, Rachel. Don't be a stranger 'round here.

Shocked to hear this news. Had some major disagreements with him on the old rivals but was definitely a character who stuck by his views and for that I respected him.

Rip Smiffy!

I've only just seen this as well and am equally shocked and saddened. I met him a few times before games for a drink and a character he certainly was. I used to love reading his "Mr Angry" posts when he would try to right all the woes at his beloved Rangers. Oh how he would have loved to have been at Wembley with us all. My deepest condolences to all the family from me and my daughter who he met and knew as Charlie for Gino.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading his posts in the old days.

Still got this and the other two T-shirts - 'It's our Cave' and 'Rangers are Back' though this is my favourite but is wearing desperately thin. Perhaps time for another with a list of old contributors on the back like a tour t-shirt.

Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean we're not all against you.

As I struggled to get up to Hillsborough back in 2003 Smiffy kindly offered me and a pal a lift even though we had never met before, it was extremely kind and I'll remember him fondly. Sorry for your loss.

I too am sorry to hear this. Smiffy was always entertaining on the messageboards, and enjoyed being contrary. If too many people agreed with him he would change his mind and argue back. Had a pint with him more than once and am sorry I won't do so again.

I am still Steve but no longer in Dagenham.

Yay, Hi Seb how you doing, do you still have the shirts, there was one from a team we were playing in green ? can't remember what team but remember some of their supporters came to the pub and gave you a shirt.

Berko, I remember your daughter the singer ? is she still singing ?

Thanks to everyone else, dad's heath did nose dive after the crash, don't want to say any more.

I'll pop in now again.

That would have been Plymouth Rach, we were both fighting for the Title. They were great lads, Green Gob and Casino Ivy, proper fellas. Deep and fondly remembered times, Smiffy was as always in the thick of it haha. They were as as good as gold to Seb that day, will always respect Plym for that.

I seem to remember him asking me about photography techniques then posting some great pics of your wedding, really good photos. So sad he's gone but he lived it to the full.
