As I say, not necessarily the best XI man by man, but collectively one I'd loved to have seen.
One area we've excelled in this century is strikers, but together Holt and Lambert were the perfect foils for one another. They get the nod from me.
I was a big fan of Jason Peake in the midfield, too, and you could argue for Will Buckley on the wing, but everyone will have their own ideas. | |

Why not go the whole hog and put Dennis Butler in his natural position on the left wing instead of playing a central striker out of position.
Other than that I can't argue much. I've seen some great performance from that collection of players.
Norman Whitehead was a real enigma, when he was in the mood he could take any full back to the cleaners. One minute he was going to Man City for mega bucks next thing he was off to Rotherham in exchange for Lee Brogden.

Tony Whelan was a very gifted player and Paul Hallows wasn't bad.
My personal favorite being a striker myself was Bob Mountford hence my avatar.
I'm a friend of Andy Slacks who played in goal for us and made his debut against Huddersfield after we had sold Mountford to them. Tells a very good tale about that game and his battle with big Bob.

You don't have to be a big guy to intimidate opponents. Hughen Riley didn't look much but plenty of so called hard players knew to keep out of his way. I remember John Bramhall having a real battle with " Fash the Bash " and never taking a backward step. Colin Parry was in a similar mould. | | | |
