2-0 Rathbone, how does Keith keep producing these home results?

Ian Wright. Fantastic player and... Er... Did I mention he was a fantastic player?

Must say, I kept the sound on for last weeks MOTD when the Shearer/Sutton partnership was re-united

After an uncertain start, Sutton's views were intelligent and refreshing, embarrassingly for Shearer who seemed dimly aware that he was being outclassed

Hah. I don't doubt it. Sutton is quite prominent on the Scottish football punditry front, too, but he is not as much admired.

I sometimes used to enter the ground through the turnstile alongside the main stand and walk past the corner terracing towards the Pearl St

One balmy August evening there was a slight breeze...

I can assure you, I'm not making this up!

Adam Virgo also said we were having a tremendous spell, but in his next breath said we had missed Calvin Andrew "desperately".

Watch with the sound down.

Point of order... "Former Celtic defender Adam Virgo"

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

He did if you listen to Channel 5 and BT Sport.

They've elevated him to the same status as Danny McGrain!

John Virgo is more fondly thought of round Parkhead.

I thought I'd have a read of the Scunny Match report on their official site, to see their impression of us.

I wish I hadn't.

Scunny were on top throughout the first half and Joe Thompson's goal was a "sucker punch"

Scunny were back on top in the second half until "in what seemed a repeat of the first half, Rochdale struck against the run of play"

I gave up at that point.

Graham Alexander and Stephen Dawson were far more realistic in their post match comments on IronPlayer. Basically saying Scunthorpe we're not good enough.

......I know exactly who you are talking about and I remember her very well indeed. I don't doubt your asertion, but I'm amazed that you're so open about your experience.

Unless, of course, you were a bus driver......

Bus drivers must have been made of sterner stuff in those days. I would have had to politely decline her offer.

Neither give us any credit though it's all about how bad they were. Which is a shame but not unexpected you rarely get praise from oppositions.

I too am of an age to remember Franny. I spoke to some body a while back about the good old days and Frannys name cropped up. I was told that she is now in a home somewhere.

From the Scunny Evening Telegraph

ROCHDALE WILL BE THEREABOUTS COME THE END OF THE SEASON

Make no bones about it, Rochdale are a very good side.

Similar to Scunthorpe, they maybe do not have the big names but they all work together well as a team and had won their last seven at the Crown Oil Arena.

Joseph Thompson was a menace all afternoon, Joe Bunney was effective at left back, also caused problems for the Scunthorpe back four.

Added to that, they had Calvin Andrew returning from a long suspension and there they have the spine of a very good team.

Add an experienced manager into it who knows all about the club and the players and it is a good recipe for success.

That is certainly showing on the pitch.

Interesting that none of the three mentioned are particularly our 'star' players. In fact, they're three of our most maligned.

No mentions for Hendo, Davies, Logan, Lund, Camps and Raff, and they didn't really get to see NML and Cannon or Allen at all.

That's 12 very good players, and there are some even I've not mentioned.
