Why haven’t we sold anyone? 17:47 - Jun 11 with 1022 viewsthis_charming_man

After years of les taking the first offer for anyone it now seems Ross can’t even give players away. Absolute joke to think our priority is to move players on yet Ross can’t sell donuts to a fat kid. What a joke he is.

As any of the hugely successful business moguls on here will tell you, selling is an art that makes or breaks a business. Let’s hope Saints haven’t lost their ability to sell players for big profits now Les Reed is no longer at the club.

Reed sold decent players that were desirable then replaced them with unsaleable dross. It's nothing to do with sales skills. We'll loan out about 6 players but we won't be able to sell them.

Reed should be in the Tower of London for what he's done.

Most players do not want to move until after 1st July so they get their "loyalty" bonus.

All contracts run to the end of June so no deals come into effect until after that.

The reason we haven't sold any of them IS Les Reed. Reed signed such a load of dross on massively over paid and long contracts we have pretty much zero chance of off-loading any of them.

Who is going to match 70k per week for a 3 goal a season scorer in Boufal? Or a similar amount for a comically inept defender in Hoedt? Or take our club record signing (zero goals) from us?

These average player must be over the moon, they know they will never be paid as much again so are happy to milk every last penny out of the club.

The best we can hope for is a repeat of last season where we send them out on loan and are lucky if the loan club picks up 10% of their wages.

And we still have to pay our 3rd choice keeper over £10m more in wages before we can give him a carriage clock and send him on his way.

Les Reed, the gift that keeps on giving.

To be fair, RK went to Everton and FF was in great form. Rumor was that RK was going to poach him and a lot of fans were very happy when we tied him down. It’s been documented he’s had some issues that have taken their toll. Whilst it’s a mile stone round the team’s neck now at the time not many (if any) complained about the deal. I think it’s unfair to pick on FF - for example when Stephens signed a 40k per week deal plenty of fans were surprised at the time and unfortunately their puzzlement has proved out.

The wage increase and contract extension given to Forster after he had a decent season could be justified, what couldn't was why Reed gave him ANOTHER raise and extension just twelve months later after he had had a shockingly bad season.

The first reason we havent sold anyone is the same reason we havent bought anyone and that is no one is going to leave without getting their loyalty bonus on July 1st.

Again such negativity and a total failure to grasp how these things work, several of these players are now within two years of their contract ending so deals can be done.

Boufal for instance has been a regular for Celta Vigo scored 3 goals and 4 assists, he is still worth around £10 million, we might have to take a bit of a hit, but we can negotiate a pay off to him from the transfer fee if he moves, he would be keen to do business if offered the right deal from the buying club.

If you truly think Celta Vigo are only paying £7k a week for Boufal then you are very naive, we could have got 3x than from a Championship club

Who gives a flying f*ck what Les Reed did or didnt do, time to move on and concentrate on the future not the past, but some people just cant seem to ever do that, Reed is gone but that is not good enough they have to keep harping on about him despite the fact it wont change anything other than generating negativity

Yes we have a third choice keeper on a good deal, but McCarthy is sellable.

My apologies 73 I wasn’t familiar with the second pay raise and extension...
