Common sense... 16:39 - Nov 5 with 736 views | spudgun | When one is lecturing on common sense, perhaps it is a good idea for one to exhibit some common sense. Thought there was a nasty undercurrent to Rees-Mogg`s advice. If he was a proper gentleman, instead of a phoney patrician, he might be considering his position. However this government appears to march to a different beat to other Conservative administrations. And it isn`t nice... [Post edited 5 Nov 2019 16:40]

Common sense... on 17:37 - Nov 5 with 720 views | ROTTWEILERS | Andrew Brigden has just doubled down the 'gaffe' on Radio 4 - said JRM is intelligent and would have sussed the flawed fire service advice. He says we should (of course) be happy that we've got such intelligent people running the country.

Yep, that`s alright then. And I thought he was patronising the professional fire service and the less educated who live in tower blocks. Silly me! Doubling down is the sort of thing that Trump`s goon squad does in America. Looks like it`s coming to town here. `Beep Beep`...

Blame the victims... FFS. Meanwhile the real villains and mistakes that caused the fire in the first place get away again, as the can is kicked further down the road.

I thought Mrs May ran a poor general election campaign but Boris hasn't exactly got off to a flyer

Just read JRM’s comments. Utterly despicable. MOST people would do exactly as the fire services told them to do. You bow to the experts better knowledge surely. Despite what he thinks it’s an outrageous slur on the victims to voice such nonsense. His apology will be insincere and self-motivated too. JRM is like a caricature of a truly outdated right wing nasty MP with seemingly no likeable personality traits.

But I'm a lot more concerned about why the building was in that state, why the head of London FB seems so aloof about it, and why the head of the local branch of the FBU seems to be more interesting isn making political capital out of the whole affair than anything else. There is plenty to be angry about in this case. JRM is the least of it.

I agree it is such a multi layered catastrophe that we have to be careful not to make the main aim to hunt out one particular culprit.

It was bound to happen with a GE going on. Rightly so as it exposes a certain mindset. You're right about others having SERIOUS questions to answer though.

The ones who should be in the dock answering questions are the people who drew up the cladding regulations, the company that made it, the local inspectors and the local council. Judging by past disasters, it'll be about 30 years before we find out the truth, and those guilty will be beyond justice again.
