At nil nil Ings was tripped. It didn't even get checked. Liverpool passed back to their keeper and it didn't get checked. Their keeper possibly handballed it and they didn't even check. Biased cheating. Absolute disgrace.

Absolutely no f*cking idea how this isn't a penalty, score that and we're 1-0 up, but instead it's not given or even reviewed by VAR and they score at the other two minutes later

Guaranteed if that was a Liverpool player it would have been checked. Its a disgrace and pure cheating that it wasn't given as a Saints penalty. Not only that but a definite pass back in the first half should have been an indirect free kick to us in the box. They should dam well replay the match. VAR is there to dam well check!

Sports scientists have done a lot of research into the reasons why home teams win more games than away teams and they found that the most important factor was the influence of home fans on decisions made by referees.

The Department of Psychology at Harvard University, studied 5,000 English Premier League games from 1992 to 2006, to discern any officiating bias and the influence of home crowds. The data was published in the Journal of Sports Sciences and suggested that for every additional 10,000 people attending, home team advantage increased by 0.1 goals. Additionally, the study proved what many football fans already suspect: that home teams are likely to be awarded more penalty kicks.

Yes, it has been scientifically proven that referees do favour big teams playing at home and it happened again today.

If things like this continue football is F***ed
If VAR do not check something like this but spend 2-3 mins checking if a player is 1-2mm's offside the game is really in trouble . Refs must start using the pitchside moniters Watching a stream and also having BT sports score centre on they were going spare, saying a clear pen (why would Ings go down when only the keeper to beat)

That’s good to know. So if we increased the stadium capacity by 10k we could see an extra 1.9 goals over the course of next season? Worth every penny. It could be the difference between finishing 13th and 14th.

It was Kevin Friend. If he'd watched it on the pitch side monitor he would have given a penalty to Liverpool

Exactly the same as in our game at klanfield, we should have had a penalty, they go up the other end directly from the incident, and go 1 up.

LiVARpool, indeed.

Yep I remember, handball in the area they broke and scored. Plus they had a goal given which was offside,,far far more offside than ones before and since where they’ve had lines drawn all over the place to check it. It’s incredible how much it’s gone for them this season.

To be fair, I think it was checked before they gave the Liverpool goal.

Not entirely sure how well it was checked though - as the ref was close and VAR often goes with the ref in these matters.

Ings was clearly tripped and it should have been a pen - but maybe if the Firminho pen was not given in the first half, then this wouldn't be either. Long definitely touched Firminho but that's all it was, a touch whilst making the challenge, and certainly not enough to make him fall like that, the diving cvnt. We were robbed.

Back pass - should have been given as an indirect free kick. I think the defender is actually trying to kick it against our player to win a goal kick, but as it goes straight to the keeper and it is picked up, then it is definitely a back pass. There is no way the ref was going to give a free kick there though, close to goal at the Kop end - peer pressure worked and he bottled the correct decision. Away to Liverpool, do we expect anything more ?

Goals change games - if only we had taken one of those first half chances and then got that pen !!

VAR wasn't even working during the first half of that game, hence no lines on the pitch for the offside goal, when they checked it.
Absolute fkn joke.

They've been the best team this season, no doubting that, consistency is key, but the help they've had is absolutely ridiculous.

Have we ever had a penalty at Anfield?

"The Chapel Kop at Southampton is widely regarded as the most passionate and intimidating Kop in European football."

Ref and VAR cheating pr.. cks on 15:01 - Feb 2 with 934 viewsBuenosSaint

What also annoyed me most about this was the analysis by Michael Owen. "Too soft to be given"' what a load of bull.! An intentional trip is a trip.!given there was no ex saints player to balance the punditry then the discussion ended there pretty much and the final result means all will be forgotten.

Refs and var team simply had no nerve to be responsible for potentially ending Liverpool's run. You can bet that would have been given against us.

God I hate Liverpool with a passion.
