We're on a 4 match unbeaten run now. Considering 2 of those games were against Man City and Man United, that's pretty good.

6 match unbeaten run now. We haven't had many better final run-ins to a top-flight season than this.

Made hard work of that again but well worth the 3 points and as we keep saying, with a couple of quality additions we will have a strong side next season.

We are becoming the late goal kings. You expect us to score in the 98th minute now. It used to be the other way round: that's when we conceded them.

We've scored the final goal in 3 consecutive games now.

What a great finish to the season: 7 match unbeaten run (4 wins, 3 draws). That's certainly one of our best ever in the top flight.

The way Ralph has improved this side is quite incredible after the 9-0 defeat.Should be manager of the season in my book.

Another thing: how many points are we winning from losing positions nowadays? That's another 3 today after going 0-1 down. This team's got some real fighting spirit. They never know when they're beaten, as we saw at Old Trafford.

Next year with Adams and Ings, Salisu, and a manager who has now got it sussed, it should be a cracking season. Just a shame we will all be socially distanced and no away games.

As much as it is a real problem for you to understand it, we finished 8th under Puel because we were the eight best team according to points won that season. It has nothing to do with being a “luvvie”. It is a plain fact.

But Saints are so much more exciting to watch under Ralph. Exciting to watch and a winning team. We wanted both: a winning team and exciting. It looks like we have it.

Champions League form, which is all the more impressive because we had to play both Man City and Man United:

Indeed, I am not knocking it. But then I am not knocking an 8th finish under Puel either. I’d rather have that than several years of fighting off relegation.

It just goes to show that your club like playing, and can put on a good run when there is no pressure, just like in 83/84 when Liverpool had already won the title.

Did the pressure of those handful of numpties sat on their pallet tower cause your failure at Oxford?

We were taking about all the top level stuff ie a chance of winning something with your club. It's a fact that your club has failed at the final hurdle more than Pompey.

Oh well, good for you. At least you can console yourself with that when you host Fleetwood again next season

There's no consolation here pal, I was just making the point that in 83/84 with your bestus ever top flight finish, there was nothing to play for as Liverpool had already won the title.

And if you really want to talk about Pompey, the Soton have been the better team this century, but Pompey have walked away with all the honours. Nothing changes its seems

Yes, we can all see that Little Pompey have absolutely walked away with the finishing 38 places below us in the league and getting thrashed 4-0 by us at home in the league cup honours this year. That must surely call for an open bus tour around Southsea Common by your heroes, Kenny Jackett and the boys.

Liverpool won the title on the final day of the season proper when they drew 0-0 at Notts County as we were drawing at Birmingham City by the same score, that meant that we couldn't catch them even if they lost their final game on the Monday at home to Norwich, they drew and we won our last two games West Brom a on the Tuesday and Notts Couny a on the Thursday to finish 3 points behind them.

So saying their was nothing to play for was totally wrong, we chased them right to the final Saturday after we beat them on 16th March we played 12 games, winning 6 drawing 4 and losing 2 for 22 points, in the same period they played 10 games winning 4, drawing 5 and losing only 1, we chased them right to the end, although it was a tough ask

Is this a pseudo history lesson?

“we chased them right to the end, although it was a tough ask”

You had a chance with 3 games to go, but it was gone when Liverpool won that game. I think that’s what you meant to say

FFS what’s this mong doing back on here? Shouldn’t she be worrying about the post office moving, or hating HCCC or making up stories about non existent unions?

83/84 was the season we were a couple of games away from doing The Double!

Went to most away games courtesy of Foley’s coaches and Persia vouchers. West Brom away at the end was brilliant, although we got chased all the way back to West Smethwick??? station afterwards whilst the local police just watched and laughed!

Memory might be playing tricks, but were we in the main stand for Notts County for that final match?

A great FA Cup rum including the mackerel at Notts Forest, Moran’s famous winner at Fratton Park, Friday night at Blackburn and smoke bombs and every coach on the south coast being hired to go to Hillsborough. I’d rather forget Highbury!

We had three games to go they had two, it went to the final week of the season and past the final day how much nearer the end do you want, the last time you were involved in a top flight title chase past the opening week of the season was 1951
