Nick's take on some of the best goals in football history.... (n/t) 13:38 - Jul 11 with 742 viewsNumber_58

Geoff Hurst v West Germany, 1966
Hurst left totally unmarked. The German defenders all over the place. Easiest hat trick in a World Cup final he'll ever get. This simply wouldn't have happened with Van Dijk and Fonte at the back. West Germany had three and a half years to sort out their defence but it's the same old story.

Diego Maradona v England, 1986
Dreadful defending. No organisation whatsoever at the back. Allowed the little Argentinian chap to simply stroll through to the goal unchallenged. England had three and a half years to sort out the central defence. No way this would have happened if Van Dijk and Fonte had been playing.

Marco Van Basten v USSR, 1988
Once again a forward left totally unmarked. No communication, no leadership. Wouldn't have happened with Van Dijk and Fonte at the back. The USSR had three and a half years to sort out their defence but it's the same old story.

Mick Channon v Liverpool, 1982
Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and admit that there is absolutely no blame whatsoever attached to the Liverpool central defenders. However, take a closer look at the goal. Seven Southampton players involved in the move, but there are two notable absentees from that list. Yes, you've guessed... the two centre backs! Ball watching, yet again. I'm sorry, but this just wouldn't have happened with Van Dijk and Fonte at the back. We had three and a half years to sort out the centre of defence, yet it's the same old story again and again and again and again.....

Very droll, you are right I sound like a broken record, but the reason I keep saying it is because it keeps happening every game, anyway next season you wont have to worry because the form he is in Stephens will be off to a big club, Liverpool are already circling and that means Spurs aren't far away.

All we have to do now is decide whether we take a layer in part exchange or just straight cash.

Ask yourself this question Nick, why does Ralph continue to select Stephens and Bednarek every week? After all, in your opinion every single goal we concede is 'soft', there's no leadership or organisation, and as you've pointed out, no-one wants to buy the pair of them so they must be useless. Yet Ralph still picks them week-in, week-out. So who's wrong - you or Ralph?

Because Vestergaard is the only other option,
he makes Jack and Jan look like Bobby Moore.

There's Danso. And presumably Hoedt. And Ralph's had three transfer windows to bring in new central defenders but hasn't.
