There is currently 11 people in the whole of Southampton area in hospital with Covid, 2 in the Portsmouth NHS Trust and 2 in Winchester and Basingstoke hospitals.
No ICU patients in Winchester or Basingstoke hospitals.
No ICU patients in Portsmouth,
5 ICU covid patients in Southampton.
So across the whole of Hampshire, there is FIVE people severely ill with Covid ( none of them admitted in the last 2 weeks... they have been there a while )
There has been ONE Covid admission in to a Hampshire hospital since June.
Why don't the local press want to share the good news, instead of trying to make people feel guilty for going to the beach etc, where it clearly is perfectly safe to do so?

As long as the towns up north ( that by complete coincidence and completely unrelated have 10 times the Asian population as the national average ) sort themselves out then things will get better. Unfortunately there will also be people like DroopyIan who will try and divert from the issues rather than addressing them. |

Not sure what the fuss over the Covid mortality rate figures is all about. We know that it affects the respiratory and circulatory systems badly. If you die as a direct or an indirect result of catching the virus you are just as dead. The figures showing the huge leap in the death rate above average doesn’t lie.
A friend lost her father a few weeks ago. She is angry that they put Covid on his death certificate as he was being treated for cancer but had recently tested positive for Covid. He kept a daily diary about his condition on FB and it was clear that he was suffering badly from respiratory problems. His cancer was in his liver, not his lungs. What we don’t know for sure is that if he didn’t have the virus, would he still have had the strength to fight the cancer and still be alive at this point.
I think that death certificates should indicate deaths directly from Covid and those associated with Covid to provide clarity. AIDS itself didn’t kill people, they died of other things because of AIDS. It is important to know what the triggers were for the stats. When the virus first started to kill people here the cause of death was often recorded as pneumonia or other respiratory related conditions. It can’t be hard to have a system that records the main reason for death with sub section for any major contributory factors so that the stats are more precise. | | | |

My boss fiancée flies in from the Philippines tomorrow and has to self isolate for 14 days. She is staying with him for the quarantine period but he is allowed to come and go as he likes. What is the point of her being in quarantine then if she could pass it in to him and he can spread it around? Surely he should be isolating with her? | | | |
