Honestly i think that is utter rubbish what Semmens came out with. But then what else is he going to say.
We where skint before, with TV revenue and Sponsorship massively down. This is the moment we could do with an owner that had money to pump a bit in.

It’s his job to put a positive spin on things. You never hear these people say we are in the crap and everything is going downhill fast. We are a self sustaining club because we have no other choice!

Exactly - it stops us from being competitive.

Let's be honest in modern football unless you are owned by a middle eastern country, a global media mogul or a Russian oligarch then no one is competitive.
The league is simply a measure of who has the most money. The only skill seems to be spending it on the right players. The rest of us are broadly there as Super Sunday cannon fodder.

I think Semmens has been very honest about the situation, he has stated that the issue is down to the Chinese government restricting their companies investing in western sport, Wolves had a similar problem and sought outside investmen.

Owners don't pump money in they lend it, if you are lucky they write it off, if you are unlucky then they demand it back and force you into administration

I think Saints are extremely lucky to have a manager who fits in perfectly to this setup. Ralph is happy to play young players, develop the ones we already have, manage a slim squad and his charismatic personality and style of play motivates the players and fans. The extreme determination of the team (thinking the Man City win here) driven by Ralph, is keeping us afloat. But without Ralph, we probably would have been in trouble with such a lack investment in the team. So with Ralph as manager, it's working to an extent.
