Is that it then? on 22:59 - Oct 5 with 1416 views | Gennaro_Contaldo | "is that it?" I'd say compared to the last 4 seasons, maybe more, that is a very decent transfer window! In: Salisu: Perm, unknown, but we wanted a centre back and got one Walker-Peters: Perm, Valery needed replacing as a first choice, this guy seems great Diallo: Perm, Complete unknown, but looks good enough from Youtube Walcott: Loan, decent experience, wants to be here, cheap option, nothing to complain about especially if he's decent Out: Carillo: Gone for good! Boufal: Gone for good! Hoedt: Gone for the season, wages off the books Elythingy: Whatever, gone again, wages off the books Reed: Gone, decent money in for a player not rated by 4 or 5 Saints managers Lemina: Gone, wages off the books Hojbjerg: Decent money in, was a bit crap for Saints, don't care, good luck to him at Spurs Plus a couple of kids I'd say that was a decent little shake up. Agree with you Also if (big if) Vestergaard can be consistently decent, that will be like a good new signing.

Absolutely, he looked decent yesterday. Plus I'm not sad to see Forster back as number 2 as I think he's probably better than Gunn. Still time for loans as well, so if Gunn gets loaned out and the club can loan another full back as cover from a different league then all good. I think the ONE position that still needs cover is Bertrand's. But I guess there is the winter transfer window if needs be.

Is that it then? on 23:46 - Oct 5 with 1341 views | DorsetIan | The only reason this could described as a ‘good window’ is in contrast to the previous ones. We’ve let Boufal and Carrillo go for free. We’ve brought in too young unknowns (recent examples: Djenepo, Danso). And a guy (on loan) who chose Everton over us not so long ago and who now can’t command a place in that team (that finished below us last season). Don’t get me wrong, hope all the new players turn out to be brilliant signings, but currently I am underwhelmed. Oh and unless I’m very much mistaken Gao is still in charge...

I would say yes, but I bet no Everton fan would swap DCL for Ings.. Redmond? Nope Armstrong? Not a chance Djenepo? not even close Adams? Having a laugh? Armstrong, Djenepo and Adams probably would not make the Everton matchday squad, ffs [Post edited 6 Oct 2020 8:14]

The team/squad that Saints finished above last season is a completely different one this season. Walcott, when everyone is fit, wouldnt get on the Everton bench. I wish him well. He’s a very inoffensive player, says all the right things etc and is quite likeable. This move is convenient for him, I just hope it isn’t too convenient and he spends a lot of time injured before heading off to the MLS or China for a final pay packet.

Bit harsh on Armstrong - he’s come on a lot in the last few months. And Redmond can be very useful on his day.

That's precisely my point. We finished above Everton last season but the difference in our levels of ambition is such that we are supposed to get excited about your cast offs.

how many of our forward players would get into the current everton team? 1 at a push Redmond / Djenepo or Richarlison? Armstong or James Rodriguez? even in midifield, Docoure or Romeu? JwP might get in Defence, possibly KwP? even their bench, smallbone or sigurdsson? [Post edited 6 Oct 2020 9:37]

With out sounding like a kopite bellend, I’d take any of your goalies over Pickford (he’s doing my head in) and Ings would be on the bench. That’s all I’d want (massively hypothetical) from the Saints squad.

I don't know what point you are making, Jay. That we've got a weaker side than Everton, and?... ...is it that we should know our place, and be pleased at a few crumbs from the table?

We're a premier league team in a big city, with a decent stadium, decent crowds, and (apparently) little debt. We need to try to do what we were promised when Gao took over - push on the the 'next level'. He needs to go, and someone with a bit more ambition needs to take over. Until then we are going to be forever trying to convince ourselves that lacklustre windows like this one are a success.

I hear you and agree. Gao is a total waste of space. No doubt who ever takes over will also promise and massively under-deliver
