Oh dear Ian. You seem to have forgotten the large number that voted leave because they were/are fed up with the EU. But keep reading the Guardian drivel and you will be happy. Then when we leave you can continue moaning and making up your parallel version of reality.
He asked about the last election, not the leave vote. At least make an effort to keep up.
A good honest answer to my question. I always give an honest answer too to any questions. The point is, if we can't agree a deal with the EU, then there are decisions to be made. We still have to leave imo, as the mandate is certainly there to leave at least, even if people wanted a deal. It's messy, but the electorate has played its part. We just have to get on with it.
I agree. We have had an honest, and I hope civilised, exchange of views. It should be possible for people to disagree without it descending immediately into rudeness and acrimony.
And I understand what you are saying about the electorate having played its part and that cannot be denied.
Let's see what happens. My guess is that a deal will still be done.

You didn't answer my genuine question about why you actually thought voting leave was best for the future generations?

I was commenting on the election. I’ll make it clearer; some people maybe normally socialists/libs perhaps voted for Boris to get Brexit done as in order purely to satisfy the democratic vote. But more than Brexiteers wanted to ensure that we escaped from the increasingly political EU ambitions, even by no deal. Of course none of the other election parties showed any keenness to leave especially Liberals and SNP.

I will happily answer any questions. I want to leave the EU because I think we should have total control of our borders. I don't want total free movement. I don't think people, including criminals, should just enter the country unchecked. I am happy to have some immigration, but we should decide who comes in. So for example, many Polish people come here, but we don't go there. It's not a fair arrangement. I'm happy to allow them in, if it is to our benefit. On that note, the UK is full. We need to have some common sense. I have no problem with other countries placing the same restrictions on me.
I think we should elect who we want to run the country, without any interference from unelected people in Brussels. I don't know who the people are in Brussels, so I don't think they should have any say with how much aid we give or anything.
I think we should be able to arrange our own trade deals.
I want to leave the EU, because I understand and have seen how the EU has done nothing to improve the lives of poorer people in many of our cities (hence the votes from previous Labour supporters). So let's try something different?
I don't like what you might call the socialist agenda, which has resulted whole large areas of London, Birmingham etc which have become all Muslim areas. I have nothing against Muslims or anyone, but I don't think they should "take over" whole areas. Walk through White Hart Lane, and you will see what I mean. To be clear, I don't care if a Muslim family moved in next to me, but I don't they should turn my local butchers into halal only. You might say this has nothing to do with the EU, but they push this sort of thing.

Exactly. Part of my issue with life too nowadays, is the shut down of conversation. Can't say this, can't say that. It's racist, it's this and that. Let everybody say what they want to say and dicuss it but yes without resorting to rudeness. The shut down of conversation, simply moves it underground. So yeah, it's ok to disagree, but I think what I think.

Erm think that's it. That's what I think.

So, for example, we need to do away with the Chinatowns in places like London, New York and San Francisco? What about all of the ex pat Brits who group together in southern Spain?

The Spanish locals don't actually like all the boozed up Brits on their doorsteps. I don't blame them, it's their country. Nope, I don't like whole Muslim communities, threatening teachers for teaching about gay relationships. It's 2020 Great Britain, not 1900,s Afghanistan. I don't like halal meat only shops. I don't agree with the practice and I don't think they should complain about the British curriculum in a secular country. They choose to live in a secular country, they should accept the way we cook our meat, what we teach in our school and our freedoms.
Tories and ‘extensive state subsidy’ are rarely seen in the same sentence. But the freedom for a sovereign state to make its own choices is fundamental.
It didn't seem to bother us when we signed up to the Japan trade deal, we agreed to the same level playing field rules the EU are asking for in that deal.

Your ancestors must have had a hell of a time in 1066.
What do you think about kosher food? Or is it only Muslims you have a problem with?
We don’t have a mayor, but I wish our Council Leader would fight our corner the way Burnham does for his people.
I knew you'd change your tune , looks like you have realised that money is just if not more important than people's health. Yes locking down 10 days ago would of saved a few lives in Manchester but the effect of not working and closing down the economy could be more negative.

I haven’t changed my tune. I just think that people should stand up for what they are elected for. Burnham isn’t against the lockdown but he wants a reasonable financial package in support. I have never argued against that. Yes, I still believe that people’s lives are more important thank making money for large corporations so that the likes of Branson can buy another island in the West Indies, but I also accept that people need to pay their bills which is something they cannot do if they have no work to go to.

He's a conniving prick who is playing with lives of the citizens of Manchester , they were less then 10% apart. Also his shock at the news via twitter on his press conference .... he was told at 2pm what was happening so he knew yet played to the gallery.
