Hat-trick subs 18:57 - Oct 29 with 2329 viewsShun

After Rashford’s brilliant display last night it got me thinking about our substitutes who went on to score hat-tricks.

Chris Dagnall springs to mind, simply for how special it was. A ?9-minute hat-trick, coming on for his first appearance after half a year out injured. Beautiful.

Have we had any other? Did Rene Howe have one?

Rene Howe scored a second half hat trick v Grimsby I think but played a full game, remember it as his first half performance was one of the worst I have ever seen

Dagnalls will always be one of those special Dale moments for me. First appearance after a lengthy injury.

He came on for Lee Thorpe after half an hour in that game, so add him to the ‘hat-trick sub’ list.

I do remember there was a game he was terrible in the first half and got a rollocking from Hill, and then he played like a man possessed in the second half.

Actually think Seasidedale might be sort of right as Howe was awful in that 15 minutes! Funny how some things stick in the memory.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Adam Lefondre came on at half time against Barnet, F A Cup round 1. He got 2 in normal time and a 3rd in extra time. 2008 I think.

Considered that as a possibility: he started and was subbed after scoring his third in extra time.

Loved watching us play around this time. Even at a lower level it was much more enjoyable than the last 3-4 years.

Agreed. This was in Hill's early years when no fear football was the philosophy and tactics.

I just remember shaking my head in disbelief as Daggers went and grabbed the ball from the back of the net after his third. Great memories of a great team.

Tangled up in blue.

Definitely brought a smile to my face and some great memories back did watching that, for all the reasons stated above.
