Is cancer caused by an airborne virus?

Many cancers can be caused by lifestyle choices... yet these are not banned, let alone that person locked down for their own good

We are talking about a deadly virus that is easily spread through the air or by contact. I am sure you see the difference between how this is spread and things like cancer and heart disease.

This morning when doing the media rounds, the line was that for every 1 day we spend in normality over xmas, it will need to be paid back with 2 days of harsh lockdown

by the end of the working day, that 2 day harsh lockdown has shifted to 5 days.

this is literally being made up as we go.

I really don’t understand what you don’t understand about highly deadly transmitsble diseases and other ailments. The lockdown clearly prevented many deaths whereas people still got heart disease, cancer etc. You can’t contain heart disease, cancer etc by locking people down. If you want to go on a campaign to stop people smoking, drinking, eating red meat etc fine, but please stop conflating the different type of approaches to different medical problems. There is no other way of dealing with this pandemic at the moment other than lockdowns of various kinds - from national, to local to self isolation. Thousands have people more died than should have due to the lateness of the lockdown in this country. If we change our lifestyles radically people will stick get cancer and heart disease.

Can’t you also appreciate that lockdowns have also likely killed a lot of people prematurely because of undiagnosed cancers and other problems, even unemployment is associated with higher death rates.

A couple of years down the line we will all be able to see the cure has been worse than the illness.

No if's about it, undiagnosed cancers are running at double the death rate for COVID-19 and that's without additional deaths from strokes, heart attacks and suicides.

Yes I can. But surely it is not a good idea to let the pandemic just run riot through the country/world?

Of course not every country will have financial damage but the effects of Brexit in UK will be difficult to identify in all the other bad figures as a result of Covid, thus making it impossible for those for or against Brexit to show the true financial cost of Brexit on our economy. Which may indeed be their cunning plan

It's certainly worth noting that recent circuit break in Wales was far more effective than our regional lockdowns
[Post edited 12 Nov 2020 11:02]

Correct, but actually, trying to identify the effects of Brexit are futile. It won't make any difference to Brexit, and it is unlikely to make anyone vote differently to the way they would anyway. Social media outrage is just the same as we have seen in the US election. Most folk will not change the way they vote no matter what brickbats are thrown.

Half of the USA believe that Trump is a self serving, egoistic liar and voted against him. From the other half, who knows how many believe that, but they voted for him anyway.

Cummings is going to be personally responsible for tens of thousands of deaths.

The mood of the public, and their acceptance of the rules, changed overnight after his non-compliance. This is going to be such a key aspect of the next few weeks. Will people stick to the rules?

I have my doubts.

That is nonsense surely. People act like tw*ts every day of the week, but that doesn't mean we all follow suit.

Exactly. Tw@ts will always be tw@ts, and he was one of them. There were people all over the place having house parties and raves before he acted the tw@t.

Looks like the circuit breaker advised by the scientists didn't work. Wales didn't lock down for long enough and it was too early. Looks like Boris was right to ignore the circuit breaker advice. Meanwhile after the 4 week lockdown here, it's worked: the R rate is now below 0.

Edit - the R rate is now below 1.

Ha edited - below 1. Below 0 means that people are having years added to their life. The lockdown is making us younger in some areas.
