Chance For Shrews Cup Game To Still Be Played ? 15:57 - Jan 11 with 1323 viewsTimSaint

Here is a little theory I heard that, depending on how the draw pans out tonight, there is a chance we still may have to play our 3rd Round Tie.

The FA announced earlier this week the next two rounds would be both drawn, one after the other, on Monday, during the BT Sport broadcast of Stockport’s clash with West Ham.

That ensures the FA will know the path the winners of the postponed tie face to get to the last eight of the cup.

And should the winners be drawn against none of the seven Premier League sides still in European competition in the next round, and also avoid a potential clash in the last 16, there could to be enough 'wriggle room' for rescheduling.

If Shrewsbury and Saints do come out of the hat with one of Arsenal, Chelsea, Leicester, Liverpool, the two Manchester giants or Tottenham, then Southampton seem certain to be handed a walkover.

What they fail to mention, is that we have games every weekend and midweek between now and the actual date of the 4th round, so what happens ? We play our 3rd round game on the 4th round weekend and see what happens, then try to sandwich everything thing in after that ?

It seems a lot more trouble than it is worth from a fixture perspective and we can't be sure when Shrews will be back and ready to play over the coming days or weeks anyway.

I think there is only 1 solution, but we shall see !!

Yes that makes sense and would explain the delayed announcement

All that is correct if the draws works out Saints would play their 3rd round tie on the week-end of the 4th round and fit in the 4th round before the 5th round!!!
A case of changing the rules (it was if a team could not raise a team they would forfeit the game)

If Saints played the 3rd round on 4th round date there is currently No spare date before the 5th round Wednesday Feb 10th, so they or Shrewsbury would have to okay 4th round on 5th round date

After that there are spare midweeks to play the 5th round, providing they do not get drawn against a team in Europe, if that happens I think would be given a bye.

That sounds like a club that cannot raise a team in later rounds will lose out, but not necessarily this time?

After their 3-0 defeat to Crawley, Leeds will be very happy about that. Not so good for us though.

Is Kalvin Phillips the most overrated player in football and the worst ever to play for England? He just passes the ball back all the time and he doesn't even do that very well. He looked the worst player on the pitch against League Two Crawley. Stuart Dallas is the leader of that Leeds team and without him they looked lost.

Leeds are going to be 100% in favour of postponing it. That's for sure:

So as Ball Number 2 got a home tie to Arsenal, it looks like it will be Saints that will get a bye.

Poor draw for us, but guess we need revenge from the previous home FA Cup tie with (current holders) Arsenal.

At least Crouchie pulled out Man Utd v Liverpool

Leeds have demanded the FA Cup game against Crawley is replayed.

Apparently, one of the Crawley players who works part time as a plumber is not Corgi registered.

This Leeds team is a funny one. Judging from the comments on their fans' forums, their fans hate most of their players, even including their top goalscorer, Bamford, and are far less enthusiastic about Bielsa than fans of other clubs are. However, fans of every club in the league, including me, love watching their games, even when they lose 3-0 to a League Two team.

PS I've noticed over the years that fans of teams with supposedly 'extra-passionate' fans nearly always hate their players and their managers and often boo them. Their reasoning being that no players or managers are good enough to deserve fans as special as they think they are.

These 'special' fans often sing, 'You're not fit to wear the shirt' at their players yet they think that some fat, lazy tw&t in the stands is because he spends his welfare benefits on fags, booze, burgers and going to football to shout abuse at the fit, healthy young men he despises.
