England v jocks game thread 19:30 - Jun 18 with 4544 views | WinchesterExile | Mistake not having JWP playing. Scotland will defend deep at times and are bound concede a free kick or two around the box. Going to be pissed off if they’re wasted. Much as I can’t stand most of our team, come on England.
England v jocks game thread on 20:46 - Jun 18 with 3104 views | dirk_doone | England had the early chances but Scotland are beginning to take control of central midfield. I'd sub Rice at half-time and bring on Grealish. We don't need both Phillips and Rice. Che McAdams has been one of the best players on the pitch.

England v jocks game thread on 20:50 - Jun 18 with 3091 views | Sadoldgit | Lucky for us Adams has his Saints finishing boots on. He had a glorious chance to score early on. Why Grealish hasn’t started God only knows. We look so pedestrian.

England v jocks game thread on 21:52 - Jun 18 with 2977 views | Sadoldgit | Southgate is just too defensive minded. Grealish should have started not given 30 minutes and why take Fidel off for him. One of the defensive midfielders should have gone. If Adams could finish properly we would have lost that.
England v jocks game thread on 21:53 - Jun 18 with 2971 views | dirk_doone | Classic Southgate: fearful and dull. When he should have gone for it and taken off one of his defensive midfielders, he took off Foden. Then, instead of bringing on the in-form striker, Calvert-Lewin to score a goal he made a politically correct substitution and brought on Rashford. But, more by luck than judgement, that was the perfect result to get us the coveted runners-up spot. All we need to do is draw with the Czechs as their better goal difference will make them winners of the group and give them the terrible draw that nobody wants, while we'll get Sweden. Kane looks out of sorts, is he fit? England were awful, tactically really poor. So pedestrian, slow getting the ball forward. Rice and Phillips barely passed a ball forward. Awful to watch.

Kane looks depressed. The concern over his club future is obviously getting to him.

I thought it was like watching Saints in 2021 Couple of early chances then Slow pedestrian devoid of ideas toothless and happy with a draw
England v jocks game thread on 22:00 - Jun 18 with 2936 views | inthebox | Basically it looks as though he's got a bunch of tired players there, both Kane and Sterling look shot, the Scots were running on pure passion, England on fear of losing. That was a classic home international for those who can remember them.

And somehow most of the tickets seemed to end up in the hands of Scotland fans. [Post edited 18 Jun 2021 22:04]

England v jocks game thread on 22:04 - Jun 18 with 2908 views | grumpy | I think the biggest problem is the Manager, he hasn't got a clue. He has no idea what his best team is after all this time. I dread to think what would have been the score if we had been playing someone like France.

Nor James either, everything was negative and ponderous. Given 3/4 of the teams go through to the next round my only hope of having won the first game Southgate has decided to expel as little energy as possible in the remaining group games and not reveal their better tactics; that was probably the worst I’ve seen England play especially considering the players available. If those same players were wearing City, Utd etc colors they’d have destroyed what was effectively a championship team. But it’s always the way with England for some reason

The top club sides usually have one of the world's best managers; England don't.
