The PL is all about money and Villa have far more than us so why wouldn't he go?

He's now our longest serving manager since Chris Nicholl and the novelty of keeping us up on a shoe-string budget each season must be wearing off?

I'd be very surprised if he left, especially as things seem to be building positively at the moment but...

He might like the idea of moving without being chopped (which let's face it is the lot of the majority of managers) and

The Club might like the novelty of getting compensation for a departing manager rather than having to pay him off! and

Replace him with Nuno?...

Norwich though? That would be mental.

Perhaps he is happy here and content with his wages? There have been plenty of jobs come up in the lat 3 years but he has stayed put. I could understand him being tempted by a job with one of the big clubs, but that isn’t Aston Villa. Okay, Ings made that choice but this was his last big contract. Ralph has plenty of time ahead of him.

It would be a first for PL football if anyone connected with it was 'content with their wages'.

If he went to Villa he would have a transfer budget massively higher than us and his pay would also be far higher.

Or he can stay here and try to keep us up with little or no financial support from the board year after year after year......

The only way Ralph will go to Villa is if Gerrard or Lampard turn them down.

We thought that we had the answers, It was the questions we had wrong.

Yet another article where Nick has a pop at the fans...

" Just a month ago the Trolls were demanding Ralph should go".

Why are people trolls for suggesting the manager should go.

A month ago we had a lost the most games in the prem in this calendar year, taking 21 points from 31 games. Even now after a little spurt its 31 from 35 and relegation form.
Dont forget it was Ralph that wanted a small squad last season.

So just mentioning the 9-0 defeats is ignoring all the facts.

Im not having a pop at 99% of the fans, as I mentioned the supporters at the games have been magnificent home and away, and they do have the right to disagree with my opinion or anyone elses for that matter

I merely mentioned those who change with the weather who only look at the last game and not the bigger picture, who will be the first to accuse the club of lacking ambition if they let Hasenhuttl leave despite the fact that they have spent the last 8 months demanding he be sacked

What does that mean? They're a bigger club than us with larger support, former European Cup winners, etc.

They have richer owners than us and could easily be competing for European places rather than just struggling to stay up as is our role in the PL.

Sounds like you'd rather support Villa than Saints. Why do you support Saints if you are always so negative?

They are a bang average EPL club as we are. The difference is that Ralph has spent the last 3 years of his life trying to build something here whereas he has no connections with Aston Villa at all apart from selling them a couple of our players. Yes, he could join them if they offered him the job, I just don’t think it is a big enough job to prize him away from his current one (despite them winning the European Cup all those years ago 😉)

I am saying that they are an average EPL club, just like us. They have just sacked their manager because they aren't doing very well. If Ralph went there what is to stopping them sacking him if things don’t improve? We are not talking about United, City, Liverpool or Chelsea here. We are talking about one of the make weight clubs. If it is true that Ralph is on their shopping list and he thinks it is such a huge step up I’m sure he will be off like a shot.
Bet you he is still here at Christmas.

You can't lump all the 'make weight' clubs in together. Leicester and West Ham were in this category but with the sort of finance available to Villa and good managers they were able to move into the category of a team that challenges for the CL and wins the PL/FA Cup.

No way we can become this with no investment.

I don’t see Villa as being any different to clubs like us Palace etc at the moment or any time soon.

Interesting considering they have money on a par with West Ham and Leicester and not us and Palace.

You must be expecting them to continue to appoint underperforming managers.

You must be expecting them to win the FA Cup and get a CL place when they appoint their new manager.

Southampton FC have been very good to Ralph Hassenhüttl.
After we beat Liverpool we went on a run of 16 PL games with only 1 win in the middle against the worst team in the League, Sheffield United. There was also another 9-0 defeat in there.

Any other manager would of been fired.

You can blame the players, injuries (Hassenhüttl wanted a small squad), referee/VAR errors, but ultimately we all know the buck stops with the manager.
Again the lack of investment will be thrown up, but Gao said early on he would not be putting any money in. Very clear on that.

We will never have long term managers any more. Dyche aside.
Hassenhüttl came here to use us as a stepping stone to a bigger club that’s backfired somewhat, so maybe he would jump at the chance of going to Villa (if offered).
They are a bigger club, with more funds.
Offer him a bigger wage with assurances of transfer money he’d be up that A34 quicker than you can say “Jazz Hands.”

Indeed he would/will.

I don't agree that SFC has been kinder to Ralph than he has been to them. It's been a marriage of convenience. Our results have been poor as our squad was painfully thin due to having no money and but we couldn't sack him for poor results due to having no money.

Ralph knew exactly what the situation was when he came here so working within a very tight budget was obviously not a problem for him. At one point his stock was very high and I would be very surprised if there weren’t attempts to lure him away (there was a time we thought he was off to Spurs) but he is still here. Not everybody is motivated by greed. I have no idea what he would do if offered the job at Villa, but get the feeling that he and Semmens are happy working together on this project and that his time here isn’t done.

Absolutely spot on.

I doubt any club has been in for him since hes been here. His record is pretty poor. Midtable and lower, sprinkled in with a couple wallopings, dosent get the big boys sitting up

His record is better than Eddie Howes in the last three years but he got the latest big boy sitting up, some clubs like Everton just look for so called big names, others look at what a manager has achieved with the resources he has got.

There are plenty of admirers of what Ralph has achieved here, in truth i agree that no one big probably think he is quite ready, but he isn't far off it

The wallopings could be explained away by Ralph to a certain extent. The first as being one of those freak results, the second due to that idiot getting sent off after a few minutes and then Mike Dean taking a lead role. The game after - away at 9 man Newcastle was his lowest point for me and showed his short comings I’d guess to any potential would be suitors.
We’ve had four games recently where he’s got 10 points on the board and to be fair this season, a couple of performances aside, have been encouraging. I can’t help but feel he’s only ever a game or two away from another horrific result and run.
I just can’t see the people in charge at Aston Villa wanting someone with the ghosts he’s got in his locker taking over when they’ve been just as poor as us in 2021.

For me the issues are:

1) Stubbornness
2) No right hand man
3) No leader on the pitch

Ralph not be a great manager but I can't see a better alternative for us.

When teams go down to 10 men, or even 9, they park the bus and as we have seen many times, the attacking teams usually find it difficult to break them down. It takes something special to get through a wall of players like that and we didn’t have it. I don’t blame him for it. The players have to take responsibility. He is a decent manager and I am sure he will go on to bigger and better things eventually.
