I genuinely thought last season Bertrand just couldn’t be arsed and was coasting. It looks like last season was a season too far for him in the top flight of football.
If he really does love playing for the sake of it like so many of them claim - why do so very few step down the leagues to prolong their career anymore? It always seems to be about that last big payday. Even though most top flight footballers are set for life anyway….
As good a servant as he’d been, I’m glad him and Vestergaard buggered off. I wasn’t sorry to see the back of either of them after the second half of last season. |  |

Don’t know why there are so many bitter comments about these two. Bertrand was pretty good for us over several years and Vest was alright but it wasn’t the end of the world when he left. Bit surprising they ended up at a pretty strong Leicester, but no doubt it’s because Bertrand is English and experienced and Vest had a strong Euros plus has premier league experience.
