Really impressed with this signing. Scored goals in the Newcastle Academy, was released, dropped into National League North and did the business when he got fit.
There will have been competition for Charman, no doubt. RS & Dale pulling it off is a very encouraging sign that we can attract players to the club.
I think we still need another striker, but Iām very pleased with Charman.
His interview is excellent. Sounds extremely down to earth and humble, but can see him becoming a real leader in time. Stockdale really gets Rochdale.
Agree
Also like that he was made captain of Newcastle U23's during his time there. It may have taken him a couple of years to get over leaving the club before he'd made a breakthrough but if he uses that renewed hunger then Dale have got a player on their hands
Really excited about this. A player who's rejected deals with better money on the table, purely because he knows his development will be aided more here. I love players like that. Also the rumoured Ā£40k sounds like it's a great deal.
Fits the bill to a T so far. Sounds like an old head on young shoulders at 24, has the right DNA and attitude to fit in at Dale and if he starts scoring consistently for us, not only do we get the benefit of his help and goals during his time here, but he may become a saleable asset for the future too. Great work from a club that was due to run out of money last Christmas.
This may be a blessing. Gives him a few days to settle in, understand his role and more importantly start adapting to L2 football. There is no doubt it is a far cry from U23 football and the level he had been playing at. Newby at least had a full pre season to get up to speed. I just hope the supporters desire to see him make an impact is not to overbearing. I just want him to be able to make the first team squad and maybe take a couple of opportunities in his first few weeks. Welcome to the club and good luck.
Some ridiculously good finishes on that clip, either foot from range and decent finishing with his head too, could well turn out to be a very good signing
Really hope he makes the step up. He seems a decent lad and some great finishes . Obvioulsy he willbe up against better defenders but no reason why his natural talent cannot shine through.
