Not necessarily because of the injuries in training, but for a couple of other reasons.

One is for the club to have a guaranteed place to train. The other is it's appeal to potential signings. I know footballers are often framed as over paid prima-donnas but it can't be easy for anyone to have their daily place of work move about so often, sometimes by quite a way. Many players move across the country to sign for clubs. They want to find somewhere to live/be able to time the school run and all the other things it's easy to take for granted.

We 'need' one but affording one and finding the right location is a different matter.

It would be great to have some investment for this purpose in order to create a community sports complex that is the home of RAFC but not solely for its purposes. All weather pitches available in the evenings and weekends. Kids tournaments. Somewhere the youth team can play their games.

How the finances stack up though I'm not too sure. There's also already places like the soccer factory in or around the area. Lots of advantages for the club and community but doesn't scream out as a no-brainer and something that's going to cover it's costs.

Poll: What are we more excited for?

They used to train at Platt Lane but the players preferred to train on the Lacrosse Club pitches because they didnt enjoy the daily traipse into Manchester. They have been using the Lacrosse pitches and clubhouse for a number of seasons now and the Football club has also employed a chef to cook lunches . The pitches are maintained by the Football Club in lieu of payment for their use. Its probably time to do more work on them than simply maintenance as the pitches have become more prone to waterlogging recently, apparently caused by the application of the wrong sort of sand!
Clearly the current arrangements with the Sports Club are somewhat ad hoc, but there is potential for closer relationships to be formed particularly in the area of sports grants to build an artificial surface.

How many times as it been said over the years 'the right location' even RMBC where helping at more than one stage..

Perhaps a joint project between Dale and the council is a way forward, where as Dale use the facilities during day and then its open to the community....

Just catching up on things…..I’m presuming that Jay Lynch was injured in training last week?
That’s both senior keepers crocked in training in the last few weeks not to mention several other players.
Our injury list has been horrendous in the last couple of months.

If it was promoted as something to benefit the community and not just the club, would it be a potential vote winner?

Probably not, especially with who is likely to be elected to the council from the ward the ground is in.
