Really encouraging performance today.
Had Man U on the ropes in 2nd half.
Some excellent performances.
Bella Kotchap looks a monster & very quick he's establishing a good relationship with Bazunu & Salisu.
Lavia is looking a proper player, calm on the ball & does look to play the ball forward (just wish JWP would do the same).
Even Djennepo is starting to look like a wing back.
Adam Armstrong had his best game for us, he looks better playing on the left.

It's that flash of quality we lack. It worries me this could be a season of struggle and heads and performances will drop unless we have more quality threat in the last third. If the club gamble for once and pay out the big money and wages and we bring in a proper goalscorer I think we'll be fine.
Apart from Bournemouth and Leicester every other team have added better players into their squad.

I look forward to watching the goal back on the recording. It was a class move, precisely executed at pace, but he was left completely unmarked. Looks like it was between KWP or JWP, but I cannot be sure without checking.
I agree with most of the posts above, apart from the skate. Bazunu was better than last seasons lot by a country mile, and his distribution, both long and short was excellent. Che was living the dream, apart from not scoring. A Armstrong had his best game for us by my reckoning. |  |

I agree that Djenepo does struggle defensively. It's not natural for him playing left wing back but I give him a lot of credit for really giving it a go & he is improving with each game. His attitude & work rate has been excellent.

A top striker would make all the difference. Get a few goals and it (obviously) gives the team confidence and enthusiasm, driving them on more. The longer we find it difficult to score, the more frustrated we will get, the more goals we will concede. | |

I agree that Djenepo does struggle defensively. It's not natural for him playing left wing back but I give him a lot of credit for really giving it a go & he is improving with each game. His attitude & work rate has been excellent.

too weak defensively, positioning is poor, rash tackles causes us more issues than he solves

We do need another striker - that's for sure. With only days to go before the transfer window closes, it will be interesting to see who, if anyone, we bring in. We had 17 shots against United yesterday with only 5 on target. That says to me we're making good headway. Just need that someone up top who knows where the goal is and can finish - whether that's a little Marian Pahars or a lanky Gaziano Pelle plucked from some European club somewhere. |  |

Indeed, it's amazing what a goal scorer can do for a sides' confidence. It must get very frustrating for a team if you're creating the chances but there's no one there to finish them off.
