Why so many away fans /tourists in home end? 22:21 - Apr 10 with 2009 viewsSouthamptonfan

The answer:
Anyone can get a ticket from this website for example. You don't have to be a member or season ticket holder, despite saying "Southampton fans only"! Notice tickets for Liverpool being sold for £154!!! That game will be the next one and hopefully the final one, infiltrated by a load of away fans in the home sections. I wonder how much Saints make out of this?

I can hardly wait for the deluge of e-mail spam from the club in the summer, offering me street food cuisine in the Mick Channon Suite at about £120 to watch Saints v Hull.

There have always been away fans in the home end. It’s just that it’s happening more now as our team are appalling and there just isn’t the demand for tickets from our fanbase; so it frees up more tickets for away fans sadly.

Poll: Would you take going down to League 1 if it meant new owners coming in?

That's very true. When Saints were good, under Koeman for example, St Mary's was vibrant, full of red and white. As you say, many Saints fans have disappeared (I know many) for various reasons, and the seats are being filled by tourists and away fans.

But, when we go down, Saints will realise that it's the real fans that they shouldn't be p!ssing off. They don't realise yet, but they have p!ssed off so many genuine fans, that they (and to be fair the PL / VAR) have gone.

I went to watch Eastleigh today v Aldershot in front of 3500 fans. A cracking 3-3 draw, great atmosphere. I took a bag in, flask of tea, no searches and the rest. Both teams going for it. No sideways passing or freekicks from the training ground. Proper tackles, full commitment, both teams trying to win the game, an honest game of football and you can get a burger and a pint for £6. It was brilliant. Talked to many ex Saints season ticket holders. They say they are Eastleigh now. Saints are losing so many fans, so you're right there.

You’re spot on about Eastleigh, I think I’ve been to more of their games this season than I have Everton where I’m a season ticket holder. The football is decent and honest, the effort and desire is brilliant plus it’s good value for money. 3 quid to get in tomorrow night FFS.

Gutted they let the 3-1 slip yesterday, they’ve been so good at home too. Hopefully learn their lesson and smash Gateshead.

On Saturday there were many empty seats, some of this was down to the club stopping lots of MC fans getting in. In the Itchen North there were a few, but kept quiet, There was a family of 6 who got into the stadium but made in clear they were City fans, after a long time arguing that they had Saints Memberships so could not be removed!!! Left very unhappy!
After the game, it was funny to see all the oriental fans rush to the touchline screaming and waving at the city players

It's brilliant isn't it. If you just love your football, none of the corporate, money orientated b0llox, it's just great to watch honest football. Eastleigh and Aldershot both going for it until the final minute. No settling for a point, no players pretending to be injured, no VAR and so on. You can freely walk round the ground, great atmosphere, everyone happy with the club - really enjoy going. Yes, indeed hoping for a win against Gateshead. The play offs and promotion still on. Imagine league two football next season. They are developing the stand behind the goal with a proper concourse and bars etc. It's an exciting project, potentially.
