5 realistic options you'd be happy to see as Saints' manager 19:57 - Jun 8 with 2641 viewsdirk_doone

I don't expect everyone to agree with me but I'd be interested to see other people's selections.

Darren Moore
Carlos Corberan
Daniel Farke
Steve Schumacher
Jose Fonte

I like what Darren Moore has done at Sheff Wednesday. He's done it with dignity and adversity. They were decent when we played them in the cup. Jose Fonte maybe. The others not appealing to me. I would have gone for Bielsa or Parker (they both got promotion from the Championship) and Bielsa was loved at Leeds playing attacking football. So lots of options there but Russel Martin it is!!!

Yes, I'd be happy with Bielsa and Hodgson too. Hodgson's age would be a concern but I'd prefer him to Russell Martin. We want a manager who has had some success in his career to inspire the players and fans.

Corberan’s record in this League is excellent, through his involvement with Leeds, Huddersfield and (to a lesser extent) West Brom, relative to what he has had to spend.

As with Mowbray.

I would rather we had tried to prise either of these away.

Yes, I'd be happy with Mowbray too. In fact, a club of our size, which has spent most of the last 60 years in the top flight and has one of the 20 biggest fanbases in the country, is spoilt for choice when it comes to Championship managers.

I would have liked to have seen Jon Dahl Tomasson of Blackburn, he has a better record than Martin, likewise Carlos Coberan.

Not sure about Jose Fonte or even if he is interested in coaching, but when I saw the post I had an inkling his name would be in the list

I'd still like to see us try for Graeme Potter from Brighton fame.

For me number 1 would be Carrick. I think h'es going to be a good manager but at the moment we are no more appealing than Boro.
If it was Hodgson I'd just give up. Did well with Palace at the end of the season but his football is dire and he seems like he's escaped from a home for the terminally confused.

If it's Martin so be it. Let's give him a go. Possession football is easy on the eye as long as there is an end product. And the owners have had time to make this choice so I guess they are certain.
