RM doesn't want to give Tall Paul the chance to prove him wrong for not playing him. That's the stubbornness of the the man.

Still no start for Onuacho on 07:57 - Oct 30 with 176 views | SaintNick | Onuacho has started 4 Premier League games plus another 10 as sub as well as 2 sub appearances in the League cup. In all those games he has looked like scoring just twice, last night he had 31 minutes on the pitch including injury time, he did not do anything that suggested he should start a game

Similar to Adam Armstrong really..no real threat at the top level, neither our prem players.
Still no start for Onuacho on 08:34 - Oct 30 with 87 views | saintwizzler | I don’t think any striker will succeed with this style of play at the level we play at. Archer was none existent last night. 6 touches. No shots. He isn’t a player who plays with his back to goal. Che Adams was. He’s not been replaced. It took a reserve Right Back who was playing at Left Back who ‘dared’ to actually have a shot from outside the area to save our blushes against a Stoke Reserve side starting with two 17 year olds. Onuachu cannot play in this system. He needs balls in the box. We do not do this.

If you don’t get the ball into areas which create opportunities then no striker is going to score. We seem to have a phobia about early crosses into the box. Everyone sees it apart from Martin.

Yes but just like last night Nick the delivery to him from the wide men has been non existent. You could see his frustration last night. He was getting into the type of goal scoring positions that are alien to Archer and Brereton Diaz but the ball never came in. It was being played horizontally across the pitch to get our possession stats up He’s a proven scorer and this was exactly the game to start him What was the point in starting Armstrong. We know he can score at Championship level and can’t score at Premier League level already As for Archer, Sky showed his touch map. I think when he went off he’d had 5 touches against a championship relegation threatened side full of fringe players when we had a high possession percentage. That is absolutely inexcusable and we have to try an alternative or we’re relegated. He’s proven this season and at Sheffield Utd and Villa that he just isn’t good enough in the PL The problem is Onuachu doesn’t fit into our style of trying to score the perfect goal by walking the ball into the net

‘The problem is Onuachu doesn’t fit into our style of trying to score the perfect goal by walking the ball into the net’ So it’s pointless playing him.

You are quite right the amount of possession that we have and the number of touches that we had in the Stoke box was appalling Archer only having 5 touches showed how we failed to get the ball into the box for him or with the chance of getting into the box. I don't think Onuachu got into many scoring positions other than being in the box, the one chance he did have was a header that he put about 10 yards wide, it wasn't an easy chance but he should have done a bit better. Armstrong has scored in the Premier League, but I agree he is not going to be a 10 goal a season man at that level, however he can play a part with his hard work. You make the excuse for Onuachu that he was getting no service, but that was the same for both Archer and Armstrong. Onuachu is a wild card, he can score in Belgium or Turkey, but the overall standard is a couple of teams aside in both leagues worse than the Championship. He has had his chances to show he can score both 2 seasons ago and now, but he has yet to really do anything that warrants playing him. Onuachu getting game time shows that Russell Martin is clutching at straws, as has been pointed out his style doesn't suit our game under Martin, it just highlights that his tactics arent working
