5 Things About Aston Villa Game 09:12 - Apr 14 with 1603 views | SaintNick | 1. Change was needed, but we didn't get change, we got the same players doing the dame things. 2. Good support given the circumstances, but you could tell there was no enthusiasm in the crowd, just a feeling of foreboding, that opened the floodgates when Villa got their second and people left en masse. 3. As above I don't think I have ever seen St Mary's so empty on 90 minutes, I'm not blaming anyone here, just pointing out the fact that this is the feeling in the fanbase. 4. At least it meant that their were no queues to get over the footbridge at the final whistle. 5. Onwards and upwards towards the 3 points and then we can concentrate on next season.

5 Things About Aston Villa Game on 12:06 - Apr 14 with 1460 views | Southamptonfan | I have also never seen St Mary's so empty on 90 minutes either. But this club and these players are giving us nothing. About as much resilience as an ant. As you mentioned in your report Nick, why an earth did they send Armstrong on loan? We don't have anyone at all all up front. It's terribly run. No striker at all??? No wonder we are the worst team ever, just to add to two record 9 nil defeats that nobody else has suffered.

Tall Paul, Ross Stewart, Sulemana, Dibling, Archer, Groenbaek, BBD and A Arm have all played up front for us this season, so clearly we have no strikers at all. We have plenty, but no quality. Bournemouth lost 9-0 at Liverpool less than 3 years ago and they didn't have a player sent off throughout the entire game, let alone with the scores level or 1-0, like we had in our games. Man Utd beat Ipswich 9-0 about 25-30 years ago Portsmouth have had a RECORD topflight 10-0 defeat (to Leicester), so we aren't the worst !! :-)

The 9 nil was a "Premier League" record defeat, yes equalled by Bournemouth, and Ipswich, but it happened twice to us, in successive seasons wasn't it? That's quite harsh on the fans, In amongst all the other thrashings. And please tell me why you would send on loan, in January, the Play Off winning goal scorer, a hard worker, a striker who at least can score a few in the PL and has a bit of quality, when we were struggling to score? It's madness to me, unless you are going to replace him. Why would you bring in Groenbaek, Juric was in place, when we bought him but then not play him? Again, it's madness and bad decisions. Charlie Alcaraz who does have quality and who playing regularly for Everton creating and scoring goals, a quality player and we sell him! It's mistake after mistake. I can see why we are rubbish, because the decisions have been terrible. It didn't need to be this way, that's the point. And, yes it is embarrassing to be the first team relegated from the PL with 7 to play and it's embarrassing to be only on 10 points. If you're okay with this, not bothered, not angry, not embarrassed, whatever you feel that's fine - no problem. I actually think the fans deserve better, but that's just my opinion. Sorry, my bad. I obviously forgot football didn't exist before 1992 :-) Yes 9-0 happened twice to us in the Prem era - which is bad enough, especially as I was at the Leicester game and stayed til the end because it was raining, but we did have red cards at 0-1 and 0-0 in both of those 9-0 games. I am not defending the club in any way - of course like everyone else, I feel that this season has been a complete write-off and the club are accountable. Everything they have done this season has been a complete abortion. We were down the minute the window shut in September and we were left with a very limited squad. Martin should have gone after 10 games as well. I'm not defending the club's decision to loan any of our players. A Arm was given ample chance between August and December to prove himself at this level (again), but didn't. The club and management team obviously felt that they would be able to do a job without him and get some loan fees in and wages off the books - so they should be held accountable for that. Same with BBD, who was stuck out on the left and never played through the middle, before being loaned out to save wages. I believe that Groenbaek was only signed on loan until the end of the season, but whether Juric asked for him to be signed, or the club just brought him in, I don't know. Either way, it is obvious that he has not done enough in his games played, or perhaps in training, to warrant further appearances. Personally I think he appears somewhat light weight and is easily knocked off the ball - ala Palace and Brighton. He did quite well at Ipswich away, but was replaced by Sulemana - who went on to play well and ultimately have the shot that got parried to Tall Paul for our goal - so just as a result of performances / end products from that game, Sulemana has always started ahead of him. We all know that Alcaraz has the quality and is capable of being a decent Prem player, but we also know that his style and willingness to try things in the final third (sometimes losing possession), didn't fit into the RM keep ball rhetoric. I am sure that RM told the board that he could be sold. We have gambled on purchasing average or young players and hoped they would come good. Rambo and Fernandez aside, our signings have been awful. It is not rocket science to see that Sheff Utd went down last season with Archer and BBD up front - so what do we do ? Sign both players and expect them to score enough to keep us up !! We should have bought 4 or 5 quality players for £20-25m each (like Ramsdale), rather than waste it on mediocre rubbish that think they are Prem players, but clearly aren't. Never mind - the club will expect us all to renew our STs next season, after all, the Championship is the place to be !! :-) Just hope we can offload and clear out this summer.

Good point about Charlie Alceraz . Most fans could see an exciting if raw prospect at Premier league level from the 22/23 Season Didn't suit Martins style . The club bin him off back to South America after making a about 2 million profit. Now on loan at Everton and already looking like a 20 million pound plus player.... Sports Republic...we buy young players, develop them and sell on for profit..I guess they technically achieved that with Alceraz ...well done on the 2 million.

All players value drops when they are playing in Championship. So considering that, the asset value of our club has been hit big time. Alright we might get more for Fernández than we paid for him but he would be worth an awful lot more if playing in Premier lge.
