Poll: Should Will Still be sacked?

Make up your own punchline….

In all seriousness, I struggle to see this being a profitable venture, and I imagine Megastore staff who have had their hours reduced (due to being shut a few days per week) will be looking at this with raised eyebrows.

Poll: Would you take going down to League 1 if it meant new owners coming in?

My thoughts exactly. I went to the Dell bar on a non match day a few weeks back, all very nice, but it was completely empty. It's open from 7 in the morning to 11 at night. They had chefs, bar staff, waiting staff and no customers! Surely it's running at a loss.

We’re a football club and outside of the immediate City Centre: there’s much a football club can innovatively do to increase revenue. But what has this got to do with football and how is this likely to make money against competitors who specialise in these markets?

You mean it wasn’t full of suits taking advantage of the super-duper “wi-fi and coffee” offer so they could take their laptops in and use the Dell bar as their mobile office?

Who would have thought it?

Climbing walls, darts and shooting ranges, the chapel paramilitary training center is being built.

I assume they'll turf them out into the gulags ready to scale the walls and slaughter the away fans.

They should install virtual ski slopes in those booths - then if things don’t go well we can all go downhill fast together 🙂

Ha. They ought to install an ice rink so that people can go ice skating.

You know what's going to happen. Somebody will have an accident there and sue the club for an enormous amount of money.

If the club have any sense, they will franchise it out so that they are shielded from this.

It will never make money. Particularly if it is run by Parsons.

As with the Dell Bar. A huge white elephant.

The mistake you’re making is thinking it’s about making money, when the reality is about laundering it so we can spend more under PSR

But it's small beer, isn't it?

The annual turnover from this wouldn't cover our 3rd-choice goalkeeper's wages.

Went to the Dell bar on Thursday about 12:30, took my daughter for lunch after popping in the megastore. There were roughy about 50 people inside, some groups, some on their own, saw a few with laptops out and a table of four all with laptops out so yes probably work/meeting. Food was good, not particularly cheap, good atmosphere.

So how would that work? We spend a fair amount to build it, pay staff to run it, assume we get little back, what do they do, hide the loss, but it allows us to spend more on transfers? Don't understand it at all

I think they are changing the PSR rules so that your wage bill can be a certain proportion of your turnover (rather than imposing a maximum cap on losses you can make)

So the higher your turnover, the more you can hypothetically spend.

Seems a highly dangerous concept to me.

Maybe those megastore staff on reduced hours will be getting offered extra hours in the new venture (level 1)?

I won't be happy until they put access to the roof of the stadium & construct a huge water slide that pops out right on the centre circle.

Yup exactly that, also if you think of one thing in isolation it won’t seem much, add them up and it’s a fair chunk. Especially at £7.30 a pint (couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that)

So we are finding ways to generate more income, that we can add to the spreadsheets as income, which will allow us to spend more in the transfer market. We can't generate that extra income by trying to sell our shirts in India, so instead we want to encourage people to enjoy golf, bowling etc and buy a few drinks and some lunch. Our income increases, so we can spend more on the team. With that logic though, we could build a holiday camp and a theme park. This would generate so.much income.

Which is basically what Chelsea did with their hotel. They’ve also “sold” their women’s team to their own owners.

Basically clubs are doing a bunch of really shady stuff as a result of this change and like Pat said I can see it ending in disaster

A multi purpose indoor arena is I’m sure what the club (and city) really want. That would be a big money spinner, possibly 7-10k seater.

Agreed.

They could open a Turkish barbers and name it Goztepe Hair. No suggestion of money laundering of course.
