Who Is The Worst Signing Saints Have Ever Made on 21:09 - Jan 16 by shotters
He didn't get on the pitch for the Oxford game
I found some footage of the highlights of the game on YouTube
Nice goal from Richard Dryden, I see he been mentioned on this thread but he was a cheap signing on the recommendation of Terry Cooper and whilst he wasn't great, at least you could see he was trying his best
Van Gobble was playing in that game too, looked absolutely hopeless from the highlights
I didn’t say he did play the Oxford game, I wasn’t at that one, I was talking about the league game against leeds

Ah you know there have been so many duds over the years, far outnumbering the gems it seems. For a long time it’s been a rarity for Saints to sign anyone who improves the team. Fond recollections of the days of Ted Bates and Lawrie McMenemy when fans could get excited at the arrival of new players, knowing that, with very few exceptions, they were going to strengthen the first team. Limited finances excluded the luxury of buying « squad players » or « one for the future ». Newcomers had to bed in and hit the ground running.
It appalls and saddens me to think of the millions wasted on dud players, coaches, managers and directors.
The extreme profligacy of professional football, as well as all the corruption, have turned this fan right off. I would prefer to watch the local team play on the park.

Ali Dis cost us nothing, embarrassing yes but it made no difference. Spending 7/8 mill on damion downs is just horrific, if we do have scouts I hope that one was sacked
Agreed and I would add that
Damian Downs is much worse than Ali Dia.
At least Dia was enthusiastic, looked interested and actually wanted the ball. He was just lacking a little in the ability department.
Downs cost £8m and doesn't look like a footballer in any way. He is very lazy, doesn't run. can't control the ball, can't pass, can't lay it off, head or chest it. His team mates don't pass to him either, because he is so shit. Oh and he looks like he doesn't want to be here - so much so that he fvcked off back to Germany without a single goal in all his appearances.
