| Time to take EFL to court 12:15 - May 23 with 3094 views | robcoe5 | Why haven’t we taken action against the EFL The independent committee was biased Every thing was to get Middlesbrough in the final Saints should of been given time to get there case together and let the media frenzy calmed down Middlesbrough should be taken to count for their action as they have sent out details effecting the case Most people in football believe punishment was over the top Why haven’t we heard from Dragon Solak surely a rich man would be taking on the EFL At least we shouldn’t of got penalised twice ie 4 point deductions | | | | |
| Time to take EFL to court on 12:30 - May 23 with 3009 views | SanMarco | Interesting question. So far since the appeal verdict Saints seem to have rolled over and said pour some more sh1te on us we deserve it. The club's response from the start was pathetic. Legal action needed to happen before the stitch-up happened. I'm no great admirer of Cortese but he would have in court as soon as the 'independent' panel was announced. So would the appalling Gibson in reverse circumstances. Is not a little part of my/our current hatred of M'boro a sneaky jealously that they had an aggressive so-and-so who knew how to play the game and we had a lettuce left out in the sun for a month? I don't see the club can do much legally now as they appear to have formally accepted the punishment (bar a bit of whining about it being harsh.) The big thing now is to make sure now that if lawsuits come from teams like Millwall, Wrexham and Hull (if they lose today) then we are lawyered up to show that their gripes are with the EFL. No-one at Saints thinks Mboro deserved reinstatement and the procedural flaws and dishonesty were down to the EFL-Mboro axis. Sue Gibson and the league, we've had our punishment. | | | |

| Time to take EFL to court on 14:23 - May 23 with 2644 views | Ifonly | By all accounts, we have accepted: - the rules of the competition - the validity of the charges - the process of the hearing and appeal - the membership of the panel - the timetable of the hearing and appeal - our guilt on all charges If so, we have exhausted the agreed process and now don't have a leg to stand on. Saying that we should take the EFL to court would be like a German saying that they should now appeal Geoff Hurst's goal in the 66 world cup, or England now appealing Frank Lampard's goal against Germany in 2006. Bad decisions or not, it's over, we have no legal basis to take it any further and now the club has to set about dealing with it. | | | |

As they should. Hull have been prejudiced by the very late change of opponent, and Boro, having absolutely bottled an automatic slot and been well beaten in the end in the semi, simply don’t deserve to be promoted.

As they should too. Having kicked us out, a fair and pragmatic solution would have been a replayed semi-final between Wrexham and Boro. All our infringements were before the play offs commenced. So by rights we shouldn’t have been in the play offs at all. It’s really really convenient that that apparently meant Boro should progress. Even if you say that you can only run the playoffs on the teams who qualify, that should still leave the 4 playoff teams being reduced to 3, with then no 4th placed team. Millwall (3) would then get a by to the final and Boro (now the next team) would play Hull for the other slot. It completely stinks.

Wrexham also have Shaun Harvey as their CEO who was the CEO of EFL and is very canny and will know everything there is to know about the processes involved.

After the sanctions applied to Saints, Wrexham still finished 7th. The 7th placed team doesn't qualify for the play-offs. End of. The only way that would change is if the EFL changed the rules in the middle of the competition, which is obviously impossible. I don't like it any more than you, but Boro being there is within the rules of the competition. What they should have done, which is also within the rules, is to give Hull a bye.

Don’t you think that bringing Wrexham back in would have been the fair and logical outcome? They could have ensured that happened. Wouldn’t a 12 point penalty applied this season have had the result of Wrexham finishing 6th? They chose the option which favoured Boro.

Yes, they definitely chose an option that favoured Boro. They could have done what you suggest if the semi finals hadn't been played yet and that would be fair, as you say. The problem is that the semi finals had already been played. Hull had already got through to the final and that creates massive problems with giving us a 12 point deduction for this season, because Hull (now 5th) had beaten Millwall (3rd). But the competition rules say that 3rd plays 6th, not 5th. So is that semi final now void and Hull have to play a semi again? If so, Hull would rightly be pissed off and sue the EFL. Or do they accept the Hull result and Wrexham play Boro? Well that's also against the rules and both Hull and Boro would be entitled to sue the EFL in that case. Bascially, if we're eliminated with the semi finals already played, then the only options that don't create legal issues are either what is happening today, or Hull being declared the winners. I'm sure nobody would like the loss of revenue, but the only fair option was for Hull to have a bye.
| Time to take EFL to court on 00:56 - May 24 with 1965 views | SanMarco | Ifonly is right on Wrexham. Saints would have needed to be docked points retospectively so they sank below Wrexham. That didnt happen so 7th place foes not a play off place make. It will next season though. | | | |
