You’re kidding aren’t you? Moyes is incapable of playing more than one youngster at a time, at the moment it’s Merlin Rohl, meaning Dibling, Armstrong and George stay firmly on the bench. It’s something that’s beginning to grate the Everton fans. The under use of Alcarez is also really poor from Moyes. | | | |

I don’t think Moyes will accept any flip flops mentality and would make that quite clear in the dressing room. Be interesting to know across both games how many players have either got or are likely to get World Cup call-ups. I see Ndiaye has already been mentioned but are there many others across both games.
If it is not being greedy, I’d ask the Football Gods one more favour this season, really appreciate Hull getting the nod but Spurs to go down as well please, pretty please!… [Post edited 24 May 12:58]

We've played Spurs more than any other team in our history because we've been in the same division as them more. We seem to follow each other up and down.

Shame really as I was hoping Moyes will want to 'help' his former club by stuffing Spurs and hoping West Ham do the job at home to Leeds. I wonder if we will get anywhere near the last day drama of the 1993/94 season? One we both should remember, what a nail biting afternoon that was. Both Saints and Everton were in a three way fight to beat the drop along with Sheffield United. All of us needed something from our games to guarantee safety. Everton overcame Wimbledon at Goodison, Saints blew a 3-1 lead away at West Ham but the 3-3 draw was enough thanks to Mark Stein. Sheffield United had to go to Chelsea and lead 1-0 and 2-1, Chelsea equalised but United were still safe, then in the final second of the season Mark Stein stepped up to make it 3-2 to Chelsea deep into injury time and consign Sheffield United to one of the most brutal relegations from the top flight. Me, my old man and brother ended up in a pub somewhere in East London with all of the players. A London Saints organised thing. My sketchy memories include Tommy Widdrington being absolutely hammered, Ian Dowie walking round the pub balancing a full pint on his head and Ian Ball's hand shake being like a vice grip

Now you mention it I seem to remember that third Everton goal, it looked like the keeper dived over the ball to let it run underneath him into the net. That’s without trying to find it online.
Oh yes, no mobiles… Our only friend was our portable transistor radio but what with the dodgy medium wave signal and the obvious noise inside the stadium that was hit and miss at best. Then if someone with a signal and a little earpiece on a wire got some news it would spread like the verbal equivalent of a Mexican wave. I was at that game and would say it’s the best I saw Le Tiss play or though there are many other opportunities to choose from.
He scored a brilliant free kick, but the ball on a plate for Widdrington’s header after skinning the full back and then buried a nerveless penalty.
He got dogs abuse from the West Ham fans who kept singing to him that he had a fu king big nose.
After the pitch invasion by West Ham fans the referee blew the final whistle well short of the ninety minutes which was just as well as any longer and I think West Ham would have won it.

I was replying to Solent Toffee so only just read your post. Yes indeed, you were king of the terrace with a transistor radios but the absolute king was the one with the single earpiece on a wire plugged into the side of the radio as he could still hear things in a noisy ground.
OMG those London Saints end of season do’s. As a signed up London Saint the first game I always used to look for when the fixtures were released was the last game of the season and hope for an away game in London. Went to several including after games at Charlton, Palace, the West Ham one we were both at and Arsenal. The Arsenal one was in Dick’s Bar in Hornsey in the days of Shearer, Le Tiss, Razor Ruddock & Hurlock. That was some do, Razor was going round buying everyone drinks, more than once. Hurlock was hitting on my mate’s other half, Shearer was telling some filthy jokes and swearing like a trooper. Damned good couple of hours or so, then it was all over, the last we saw of Razor Ruddock (as he moved on that summer) was his bare backside pressed up against the rear window of the team coach as it disappeared off into the distance! | | | |

Yes spurs came up with us in 1977/78 after both teams just played out a friendly draw at The Dell to enable both teams to go up to the First Division so they have been top league since 1977/78 . I was there. |  |
