Does this useless government have a production line of fools with no workable plan for the country?

My kids need to go back in September, if they can’t then it’s a total f&ck up. Was at a customers house yesterday, massive house in the sticks and the 3 kids were all linked up to there school via zoom chatting and interacting with teachers and friends doing proper class work. My kids get a pathetic project to complete every 2 weeks, it’s not on, my daughter who is a proper whizz at school is losing interest. How is the country gonna get going if kids aren’t back at school? It’s a mess and it’s time to accept 2 metres isn’t going to work, just get the f&ck on with it, open schools in September or the country will be double fooked, I’d even go on a protest to get them open.

If teachers and unions really wanted to open up again to all years, they could.

We are heading in to the middle of summer, temporary classrooms can be created all over the school grounds to increase capacity and allow social distancing.

Portacabins.
Temporary Structures.
Marquees.
Dividing up the School Hall in to more classroom space.
Part time attendance 3-4 days a week to reduce numbers.

Even if we ignore the science that suggests that children are not highly infections or the scientific FACT that the illness is not sever for children, then there's no excuse not to re-open.

Teachers and Unions can't be bothered to make an effort in order to get their children back to school.

There are some good schools out there and well intentioned teachers ( generally the older generation ), but they are far outnumbered by lazy workshy schools that are treating this pandemic as a time to kick back and relax.

Once again you are having a pop at the unions and teachers when it is not their fault. The government were told their plans wouldn’t work and the unions and teachers have been proved right. Not that you would ever accept that your precious government could get anything wrong.

I saw a teacher discussing all of the measures you mention on TV yesterday. All interesting solutions but these things cost money and take planning. Are you asking schools to sort themselves out now or do you think that these measures should be coordinated and funded by central government?

Where there's a will there is a way, there was no will at all.

3 weeks ago everyone was saying it's too dangerous , now the same people are sayin why aren't the schools opening.

Not sure what soppy said as he's on ignore but no doubt he got triggered by facts.

As you say, where there is a will, there is a way. There is just no will from a large number teachers to get back to work.

We can build a functioning hospital for 4000 patients in 9 days however schools can't put a few partitions up and erect a tent in 3 months?

It's not difficult for the vast majority of schools. Taking my old Primary School ( Halterworth ) as an example.

You could put another 4 classrooms in the Hall.
2 in the Music/Art Block
1 in the Library.
Then 4 in a modest sized marquee ( that the school own )

Put kids on 4 day weeks, reducing the amount of pupils in the school by 20%. 3 day week reduced it by almost half.

This could all be done before the end of the week with no money spent with kids coming back on Monday.

Like you say, where there's a will, there's a way. It's not difficult.

If you say so Bison. Boris will have us believe there will be no cost in modifying the schools to be fit for return. Yes there will be, just as the Nightingale Hospitals were not built for nothing. They were sourced and built by the government with NHS Trusts. Why should the schools have to sort themselves out?

Also I have never said that the schools should be going back now. They should go back when it is safe for them to do so.

I know you don't want them back , I have kids of school age I want them back at school. They are going mental , literally. There is 2 types of health I know you are at risk but the kids are at risk as well , their mental health is suffering . Upto now it's been unions v government , the kids have been forgotten by the likes of you who don't see the day to day changes in them.

“The likes of me”? Thanks for that.

I appreciate that it is tough for lots of people. My wife and I said right at the beginning that we were fortunate that our kids are older and are not at home. It is a wider issue though isn’t it? We too have been effected by lockdown so it’s done us no favours either financially.

It’s about containing the virus isn’t it? People like me were not responsible for closing the schools just as people like me are not responsible for when they reopen.

Exactly , people like you who have no vested interest in our children's well being yet feel it's fine to preach your views to us parents who see what it's doing to our precious little B'stards ;)

So keeping people alive, parents, grandparents etc. is not a vested interest? The whole point of closing schools and lockdown was to save lives and it has helped to keep the mortality rate down and slow the spread of the virus. People like me think that is a good thing. Sorry if you think otherwise.

I didn’t praise them for breaking the lockdown.

You are clearly wound up about this but perhaps you should take your frustrations out on your local MP or your kid’s headmaster? People who can actually do something for you.

I'm coiled like a spring mate. You know anything about multiplying fractions , the online help the school provides is not very intuitive. I can work it out but nipper says I'm doing it wrong and Miss Blanco does it differently.

Off to Tescos today ?

You have my deepest sympathy! I struggled to learn maths let alone teach it to a child! A few years back I tried to teach algebra to my step son. Talk about the blind leading the blind! I got the same. His teacher did it differently (correctly). It seems that maths has changed a great deal since the late 60’s/early 70’s! All I can suggest is that you put aside a glass or two of your favourite tipple for this evening and put your feet up later.

Yes, getting myself mentally prepared for the weekly shop. I hate it. I am not sure if I am supposed to wear a face mask today? It isn’t too busy on a Wednesday afternoon but you still get a selection of people who treat you as if you have bubonic plague and make a big deal of walking as far around you as they can, those who tut at you when you walk down the aisle the wrong way and those who treat you like you are not there and barge past you! Not sure I am ever going to get the hang of it and it is week 12 today.

We all have our crosses to bear Bison! Mine is people lighter than yours though. ;)

This will be difficult for the vast majority of primary schools.

Most won’t have the money or space for portakabins and temporary structures. You may be well connected through your business and know someone who would let us have one for free. If so, please put them in contact with me.

Part time attendance and rota systems are not allowed by government guidelines - which have changed at least 42 times since being released.

You cannot share space. Children are not allowed to enter another class’s bubble at any point. Classrooms are designed to squeeze in 30 plus children at the best of times. I can fit 14 children in my class based on current distancing - regardless of your opinion and thoughts on the science, we have to stick to the guidelines.
The size of our hall and it’s position relative to the kitchen does not make it viable to use as a classroom. I am 100% sure that any schools that can use the hall, are using the hall.

All staff bar 4 are currently in school. 4 are shielding and setting and marking work from home. We also have two teachers in school setting and marking work for home. This will be the case in almost every school.

I see that the 2 metre rule may be dropped soon. We can definitely and will gladly take as many kids as we can when that happens.

I miss my class terribly; every teacher will feel the same - I don’t give a shit if you don’t believe me.

you can drink your weak lemon drink now.

Well written. I think that you probably have the support of most reasonable people. Unfortunately there are some very loud, reactionary and ill-informed voices who drown others out. It is a shame that Starmer’s effort to help the government with these issues has been rebuffed so far. Here’s hoping that the issues can be resolved soon and our wonderful teaching staff can get back to doing what they love.

Pathetic?
The dismantling of the Labour Party by Corbyn as a credible opposition was pathetic, with the worst result since 1935.
As a result, even now the old communist has been removed, they still can't come up with a credible opposition.
