How long can we avoid relegation with JWP as 'captain', that's a laugh in itself for what he brings, or doesn't bring to the team)and with a hole in midfield that he creates?
Today he covered for Tino amongst other random positions, obviously told to by Ralph. What's the point in that? Might as well put a MF player in instead of Prowse who can go forward. Prowse today was truly at his abysmal worst, following the ball around like a child, failing to mark his man, not able to get a tackle in, not able to make a block, not able to keep up with any opposition player, responsible for at least one of the goals and returning his lightning pin-ball passes to keep his pass stats up.
Oh and his dead balls were sh**e as usual and when did he last score from a free kick?

The manager has been trying to find a suitable position for Prowse for a while now instead of giving up and dropping him and developing Diallo's game. Diallo can't play with Prowse on the pitch and Romeu plays better in the holding role on his own as well. | |

Ward-Prowse usually puts in a decent shift - he's certainly no shirker - and he can score some cracking goals from free kicks, like he did tonight, but we're effectively playing with only 9 men when we have Long and Walcott on the pitch.
Long is a bit of a joke figure now and wasn't even good enough to become a first choice player in the Championship when we loaned him out to Bournemouth last season while Walcott, who was a laid back but skilful player, has completely lost his mojo, which let's not forget he once had when he scored a hat-trick for Arsenal against us. But his playing days at the top level are over now. He should be cashing in on his name playing for a team in Qatar or China while Long, who, even at his peak, never had that degree of fame or skill, should be seeing out his days at a League One club.
It is a poor reflection on the way our club is run that they are both being paid Premier League players' wages here, when no other club would be that generous, and it's not exactly as if we're awash with money. It would be better to play a couple of our youngsters instead of them. They'd not only be a lot cheaper but also probably a lot more effective. [Post edited 16 Dec 2021 9:17]

If we had effectively been playing with 9 men for the last 8 minutes plus injury time last night due to long & Walcott being on the pitch then we would have lost, but we didn't
To call Shane Long a joke is unfair, he has given decent service to the club and although now he is way down the pecking order we still needed him last night and he came on and gave a good display doing what he does best, holding up the ball and winning free kicks, he took the pressure off us in the final minutes and broke up the play.
Walcott isn't at his best at the moment, but he is still a better player to have in your squad than the likes of N Lundulu and other youngsters who in fairness aren't going to make it at Premier league level.

I see what you've done there. Following a pretty decent game by JWP which included a world class free kick - you've turned your attention to Shane Long because he didn't rattle in a 20-yard special during his very short appearance on the pitch. Nice work mate.
