Brecon Beacons Name Change 12:19 - Apr 17 with 712 views | SaintNick | The world is going mad. Brecon Beacons National Park is changing its name. The park, which lies in mid Wales, will now officially be known only as Bannau Brycheiniog (its Welsh name - which means the peaks of Brychan's kingdom). As of Monday 17 April, the park will informally be known as the Bannau.

So they want to de-anglicise the name of a national park in Wales? Why not? The Welsh doesn't sound much different anyway. Plenty of other genuine "world going mad" issues to highlight I would think.

Sorry I don’t agree. Yes the world has gone bonkers, but this name change is just daft (appreciate, just my view tho). I get it, I do, but I suspect 75% of the Welsh nation speak no more of their native language than I do. Now Uluru / Ayers Rock I do get a bit more of the logic…. [Post edited 17 Apr 2023 19:36]
