They are now out in the open, I am still not sure why the coaches have to leave so early, also why we have to be there an hour in advance and i am concerned about the facilities when we arrive at Fratton Park

What are the facilities at Fratton Park?

Running water and toilet rolls in the gents?

Poll: Would you take going down to League 1 if it meant new owners coming in?

The whole thing is a f*cking disgrace Nick, the fact is it's set up to scalp as much money out of fans as possible by forcing them to use facilities at the clubs.

Putting aside the completely over the top and draconian requirements expecting fans to turn up to the ground up to 4.5hours before kick off for a drive that takes around 40mins, forcing them to use the coaches but also charging for them, restricting food and drink on the coaches and effectively saying you have to buy everything from one or other of the clubs, is disgraceful.

I've pretty much decided that should they stay up and should it be a bubble again i'm not going to do it, because they've utterly ruined the enjoyment of the day out, and effectively criminalised normal fans despite no evidence that needed to happen.

I have actually contacted the Football Supporters Association about it and would advise others to do the same

I've been to pompey quite a few times over the years and it was lively buti survived. No idea why you would put yourself through this nonsensense.
Headed on and off transport like cattle, being told where and when you can buy food and having to wait around for hours in the cold. Sod that.
I know fans take away trips as a badge of honour but this is ridiculous. It's supposed to be fun.
But getting treated like that and being charged a fortune for the 'privilege' of watching a game, is shocking. Telling us its for our own good is even worse. If you go, more fool you.

I am glad I am not going. I don't understand why it is always such a big issue to play our local rivals. Arsenal/Spurs; Newcastle/Sunderland and many others do not go through this fiasco. I am not saying that they do not take extra measures but everything related to this game appears to be designed to dilute the whole experience, match etc to such a level it almost becomes meaningless say for the result and the bragging rights. I can't believe fans of either club are that enamoured with the way this game is treated.

Pompey Away Details on 12:44 - Jan 13 with 816 viewsfranniesTache

I think what annoys me the most is the fans were apparently consulted, so either they were ok with this nonsense or they were completely ignored.

If it's the first then i'd like to know why the hell fans groups thought this was the right thing to do, and why they thought their opinion represented everyone.

If it's the second then what's the point of even having a consultation with the fans?

Like is said i'm not going next time if it's the same, i bought mine knowing it was a bubble but not being aware of the extreme circumstances we'd be put under.

Truthfully in over 50 years of going to Saints games against Pompey both home and away, there has always been violent disorder.

I have to say though although Saints fans have sometimes been at fault, we haven't gone of the wrecking sprees and mindless violence that Pompey fans have traditionally revelled in.

Could you walk out of Southampton station and walk up the street to St Mary's in a Pompey shirt without being attacked, the answer is yes, Saints fans are not bullies

Could you walk out of Fratton Station and down Goldsmith Avenue to Fratton Park in a Saints shirt, absolutely not, you would be attacked within a minute .

That doesnt make them harder than us braver than us etc, more passionate than us, it just makes have more of a chip on their shoulder than us.

At the meetings held, Pompey had fan groups represented, we have no city based fan groups, we have no representation, what we have and i am not pointing the finger at anyone on here, but at the collective saints support, is fans who will have a good moan about anything and everything on social media, but are not willing for form a fan group to represent the majority or to join one if it is formed.

I was at one of the meetings, to be honest most of those present agreed that this game would see major trouble if fans from both sides were allowed to just get on public transport at their own will.

That there would be major trouble and violence, as there has been at every game apart from, the bubble fixtures in 2011/12.

From a police perspective the cost of a bubble game was small when compared to the cost of policing a game without a bubble.

In many respects the two clubs did deliver a message rather than consult the fans, but truth is most agreed that if peace and non violence was the aim, then a bubble game was the best way to achieve it.

But even if we thought it was the wrong thing, from a Saints perspective we have no democratically constituted and elected fans group, so if anyone asks why a minority of fans are representing essentially their own views, then they have to consider that they and everyone else for that matter have done nothing to change that, someone has to get off their ar*e and form a supporters group as happened in 1993.

I agree with your last paragraph though, in 2011/12 the bubbles worked perfectly well, the coaches were escorted in and out without too much bother.

Everyone had a good shout and scream at each other in the ground, but no one got punched, no one got hurt and everyone went home safely, the restrictions that have been placed on this one are much too draconian

Except that's not right Nick we have the Fan Advisory Board, surely they should've been the ones consulted or what's the point of their role?

I also don't believe there would've been major trouble, there was no major trouble in the league cup and i have no reason to believe there would've been for this.

Also it doesn't hold water given we're one of the very few games in the country that have a bubble now, so if it works to not have one for everyone else why does it change for us?

Given what we've since learned i'm cynically thinking the clubs knew how much money they could fleece from the fans for this game and it was a nice chance for them to do it.

I agree Nick, if the sole aim is to ensure there is no trouble then this works well.
If there are ANY other considerations such as fan experience or value for money then its awful.

The big issues only really seems to occur these days in Derbies which don't take place that often West Ham/Millwall Saints/Pompey Birminham/Villa

If they played each other every year they'd probably get bored with each other like Arsenal/Spurs now, which used to be a nightmare 40 years back

I can’t believe they will take your water, if they do surely it’s against your human rights?

I’m really struggling to understand how they can say no food or drink on coaches.

The Fan Advisory board is not exactly a fan group, it is not independent from the club, it is just a group of people who give their own opinions they do not represent anyone other than themselves individually.

It is better than nothing, but it is a sounding board for the club, nothing else.

There was no major trouble in the League cup, although a large group of Saints fans walked down Goldsmith avenue and major trouble was only averted due to a major police prescence.

Those that went on the train at around 6, which was the bulk of those on the train, found the train halted for an hour and arriving at Fratton Stationas the game started, there were no Pompey fans left on the street so no trouble, but we didnt get to the ground till 20 minutes after the game started.

I dont know why other clubs can play without all this rigmarole, I think its about the lay out of the grounds.

I saw something on you tube about the recent sunderland v newcastle game and many went by coach, but the rest were on special metro trains from newcastle that stopped at a station near the ground and then they held them there till they had enough to march them to the ground.

With Pompey basically it's just one road to the station and one road in if you come by coach or car

I dont think the fleecing the fans holds much water, at both grounds they are having to lay on outside food and catering to cater for the large amount of away fans, so getting a minimal pay off from that

There are no outside amenities at Fratton. Club info says we'll be directed straight to turnstiles.

You are right the club do say that we are being directed to the turnstiles hence this thread, I have been trying to get an answer from them as to what is happening, so far the only reply I have had is to say that there will be external food units and bars at the coach parking area, they have yet to answer when i have said if that is the case then put it out on the website

I will also be writing to them, and looking into the legal actions that can be taken. To not have access to water in particular for possibly two hours on the coach and much longer if you can't afford to pay for food and drink, is technically illegal, and for them to say that you can eat and drink but you have to pay, is walking on dodgy ground.

Making people leave so early is also ridiculous. I don't mind the bubble but let people eat and drink, and leave later en masse wth an escort, close the roads - I can't see what the problem is with that. It was fine when we played them in the championship a few years ago.

Sports Republic are real f@cking communists. Think how Tonda is controlled from those above and managers before him, the Itchen North getting closed, free pies only for those who go with the official travel (in other words, you.must travel with the club or you won't get a thing).

Think failed communist states where all the money goes to the top, but those below are all controlled.
The five remaining self-declared communist states are:
China
Cuba
Laos
North Korea
Vietnam
In states often referred to as "communist," a political elite or ruling party leadership typically enjoys a significantly higher standard of living and access to resources compared to the general population. Some animals are more important than others but all the others must follow the rules. The president of China is far, far richer than his people. Likewise the president of North Korea. But they are communist countries? All control except for the man at the top? The controlling bit is key.

I.e. If you want a Pompey ticket, you must all follow the rules, we are all equal unless you an executive for P and O or a player's wife. Some fans are more Important than others. Which animal was more important than the other animals in animal farm?

Will the executives / elite of the club, travel on busses without food and drink? Will they sit on a coach for an hour before departure? Just like these failing states, SFC is failing with its controlling, toxic culture, where people like Tonda are too scared to speak out.

Adam Blackmore "Surely today is an example of how important it is to get a leader att the back'

Tonda "Now is not the time to discuss this. I can't say"

Sports Republic OUT.

Hopefully there are huge protests Saturday.
