There is an issue whenever there are so many points of discussion :
- Mcarthy in goal
- Stephens in/ Bednarek out
- Selling Vestegaard with no replacement in place
- 2nd half usual collapse
- KWP on the bench...
Above all we again didn't get a result which is what anything is measured by be it Ralph or Saints....
Mimimum requirements (and we should have the money unless it's in China) are an experience central defender who organises the defence and possibly a fresh GK who will work with the CB/defence... right now against Everton we were missing 2/3 of our team's spine from last season Vestergaard / JWP / Ings and it showed... |

There comes a time when the truth can no longer be hidden, we are here in my opinion. We have earned around 25-30 million from selling Ings and are desperate for players that will strenghten the team/squad but as a MINIMUM replace Ings with the money we have. For me if this does not happen i.e. we do not buy Armstrong, Abraham or equivalent and even sell JWP and Vestegaard then the writing is on the wall and I for one will find it impossible to support a club/team that's already given up because they prefer to spend money elsewhere and not on the pitch... sad but true.. |

We've very little left in reserve... just not strong enough...

RH is staying true to his word... trim the squad, bring through youth players like we used to do with our Shaw's, Lallana's and so on, they were not names when they were brought into the squad.... we seem to forget that used to be the Southampton way, plenty out on loan who he will also be watching so I think he has a good feel, knowledge of the situ and I agree with him that there is no point just bringing in a second rate striker or CB when we already have CA & plenty of CB, who really would have been better out of the transfer deals that have been done by other clubs??? |

The question still remains if Targett will cut it at PL level, he didn't really convince with Saints did he even when he was playing in arguably a better team than Fulham are now. Loaning him out is therefore a risk, what if he doesnt perform, what if Fulham leak goals by the dozen. Fact is that there are not than many left backs in the PL commanding a fee of around £13 million... so is Targett really worth that ....... sell him for anything above £10 milliion ....

bstokesaint ...... 100% agree that is why there is no point attracting 2nd rate strikers when we have really good strikers available.....look at England WC, great strikers up front but the clear opportunities were lacking, if you look at the combination work of the better teams the way they always seem to play direct and are 1 move ahead with a player already moving into the space then that is football. .... Last season Saints were way to predictable you missed the little 1,2's and triangles and it seemed that whoever was attacking (Redmond, Tadic, Boufal etc..) always needed that first touched to control, think and then move on, there is no time for that in modern day football .... MH has his work cut out but I do believe he has bought some more direct players to come in this season.... |
