There can be very few
players who have scored against Dale, and then turned
out for Dale in their very next game. But that's exactly
what has happened with new signing Clark Keltie. He
finished from the spot in the Play Off game between
Darlington and Rochdale, and subsequently signed for
Dale. Perhaps if we'd have known that we wouldn't have
had to bother with penalties.
He comes to Spotland
having signed a one year contract with the club, and it
will be up to him to try and win a starting spot in
midfield, with competition from Gary Jones and fellow
new signing Ciaran Toner.
This will be the
first time at the age of 24 that Keltie will have played
football for anyone other than Darlington, having signed
for them after being spotted playing local football. He
then went on to make not far short of two hundred
appearances for the Quakers.
He certainly did
something right up there, as he was awarded the
captaincy of the club at just 22. Reports from the North
East are very favourable. Some talk of his ability to
get stuck in when required, others have him down as
being a play maker with good vision, and he's got a fair
share of spectacular goals as well by all accounts.
It is reported on
Wikipedia that Keltie is also quite a talented MC on the
North East Rave scene, even doing a bit whilst playing
for Darlington, tho this cannot be verified.
