Edwards and Soca Warriors Out of World Cup

Carlos Edwards’s Trinidad and Tobago crashed out of the 2014 World Cup after losing 2-1 to Guyana in Georgetown overnight. Meanwhile, keeper Cody Cropper kept a clean sheet for a young US side.

Edwards’s Soca Warriors needed to avoid defeat to go into Tuesday’s final qualifying group game at home to Guyana with any chance of going through to the next stage. The loss leaves them four points behind the Guyanese, who progress as group winners.

The 33-year-old, who represented his nation at the 2006 World Cup, was winning his 81st full cap.

Cropper, who is in Germany at a US U23s training camp, kept a clean sheet for a side mainly made up of players qualifying for the U20s as they drew 0-0 with Azerbaijan’s U21s yesterday afternoon.

Later today, Town’s first choice keeper David Stockdale is not expected to make his full international debut when England take on Spain at Wembley (ITV1 4.45pm).
