Coleman agrees terms with Dale
Coleman agrees terms with Dale

In an affair described as "Coleygate" by Sky's Accrington supporting cricket commentator David Lloyd, John Coleman has agreed terms with Dale to become the new manager at Rochdale.

After days of rumours and wrangling, it was confirmed on Monday afternoon that after discussions with Dale, John Coleman had agreed a deal with Rochdale to take over the hotseat left vacant by the December sacking of Steve Eyre.

There is still the small matter of compensation between the two clubs that needs to be agreed before he can be completely confirmed as the new Dale manager, but negotiations are well underway between the two sides.

Coleman has a tough job on his hand to keep Dale in League One, but he's been accustomed to tough jobs during his time at Accrington in which led them to promotion from the Northern Premier League to the Play Offs in League Two.

Assuming compensation doesn't scupper the deal, Coleman will come to Spotland bringing his long term assistant Jimmy Bell with him. Bell has been assistant to Coleman since his days at Ashton United.

He certainly does face a tough task and he must put together a stable team without reliance on short term loans - hopefully there are a couple of decent Accy players he can bring with him.
Let's start with a win on Sat.........
