Craig Pawson will be the man of this weekend's game with Hereford United. TVOS does his usual preview bit.

The Football League currently has a referee called Keith Hill, while in the past there was a Willie Burns. This Saturday we will see an official who almost shares his name with a Dale player!

Sheffield-based Craig Pawson will referee a Football League match at Spotland for the first time when Hereford visit at the weekend, although this isn’t his first Dale game.

His league debut came in our 0-0 draw at Grimsby on the opening day of last season, while just a few weeks earlier he had refereed the pre-season friendly with Stockport.

Going further back in time, Craig was one of the assistants at the excellent Carling Cup tie against Norwich in August 2007.

Craig ended that season as the top rated referee in the Conference, an accolade that was marked by him taking charge of the play-off final between Exeter and Cambridge.

His first season at league level began quietly with our game at Grimsby and continued in much the same vein. Overall he took charge of 23 games and showed only 58 yellow cards and three red.

This season has been even quieter, with six matches producing just eight yellow cards.
