GFH sweating as TWO late bids emerge.
GFH sweating as TWO late bids emerge.

Gulf Finance House Capital's hope that their completion of the buy out of Leeds United will not fall at the final hurdle as media reports suggest two late bidders may emerge.

Although nothing has been released publically by GFH or Leeds, the belief is that the deal will finally be concluded midweek after six months of wrangling and Bates would leave Elland Road after nearly eight years involvement with Leeds United. The deal reportedly worth between £44-52m would see present CEO Shaun Harvey stay on at ER.

However on Sunday, American millionaire Preston Haskell was quoted as saying he saw Leeds as a "long-term investment opportunity" and paid tribute to Bates and manager Neil Warnock. This appeared in the Sunday Times.

The Yorkshire Post this morning (Monday) report that Haskell's alledged interest focuses on "investment" rather than "buy out" so the unthinkable for many fans would happen and Bates would STAY at Elland Road.

The paper also claims of a THIRD possible bidder backed by wealthy Saudi investors could also emerge.

Like most fans, I just want the whole thing concluded and the best deal for Leeds United, however whilst GFH have convinced Bates they have the cash to top up his pension there are suspicions that they do not have the clout to invest in the team. Should another bidder emerge, then surely this will mean yet more weeks of talks and the likelihood this season will be a relegation and not a promotion battle.
