Trust Launch New Fundraising Initiative
Trust Launch New Fundraising Initiative

Swansea City Supporters Trust have launched a new scheme which gives participants the chance to win a Season Ticket for 2008/09

The Twenty/20 scheme is designed to ask for one-off donations of £20 in pursuit of the Trust’s goal to own 20% of the Football Club.  Everyone who participates is entered into a draw where the winner will be able to enjoy the next season of football at the Liberty Stadium for just the cost of the donation.

The scheme was the brainchild of Trust member Gareth Phillips who passed his idea forward knowing that Swans Trust was on the lookout for new fundraising initiatives.

The Supporters Trust currently owns a stake of 17% in the Swans and have ambitious plans to try and retain the percentage as near to the 20% quoted as possible.    The fundraising launch has come on the back of the very first TV outing for the Trust team which has been released via the web-site at www.swanstrust.com

Commenting on the new scheme, Trust Chairman Phil Sumbler said “When Gareth came forward with the idea, we could see much merit in the concept and discussed it at length between ourselves.

“We felt that there was a need to offer an incentive to those who supported the Trust via the scheme and with hopefully the club being in the Championship next season it seemed a big incentive to offer up a season ticket to one lucky scheme member.

“It is hugely important to us that we retain the shareholding of the Trust at as higher level as possible and Twenty/20 will certainly allow us to do just that.  I would encourage as many people as possible to join the scheme and look forward to presenting someone with that season ticket before the start of next season!”

Anybody interested in taking part in the fundraising efforts or those who want to find out more should visit the Trust web-site at www.swanstrust.com or write to SCST, 57 St Helen’s Road, Swansea.
