Hammill Sent Off For Reserves
Wednesday, 22nd Aug 2007 13:50

Adam Hammill was dismissed for Saints reserves as they beat Wycombe last night.

Many Saints supporters are wondering what has happened to Adam Hammill, he promised a lot after his arrival on a season long loan from Liverpool, however after a series of good displays in pre season his career at St Mary's seems to have stalled amidst a combination of rumour and niggling injuries.

In an attempt to kick start his season, he was played in the reserves against Wycombe Wanderers, but even this seems to have backfired as he was sent off for two yellow card offences within 30 seconds of each other on the hour mark.

Hammill had been enjoying a lively game when he was yellow carded for encroachment at a free kick, which was promptly taken and struck his arm for which he then received a second caution, however it wont afffect his availability for the first team as this league is dealt with under a different code of conduct.

Apart from this is was a good evening as even with ten men Saints were too strong for Wycombe, although they were only two goals up at the time of the incident, they added a further three in the last 30 minutes to run out five goal winners, the scorers being McGoldrick 2, Cedric Baseya 2 and Adam Lallana.

Darren Powell got in 45 minutes in preparation for Saturday before being withdrawn at half time as a precaution.
