Its a must win game for saints against Colchester.

Mind you that is what was said in the corresponding fixture last season and the shock defeat made many think the season was finished on that black Friday night, but it wasnt.

One thing for sure is that it looks a nailed on certainty to produce some goals, Colchester are the Championships top scorers with 11 whilse Saints themselves are second with 10, add to that both defences are fairly generous and it looks like the back of the net is in for a fair pounding.

But Saints have several problems to over come, the first is the same as every other game this season and that is a lack of defenders, on Sunday once again we paid the price for not having a quality centre back to go alongside Thomas and against a side like Watford you cant get away with two player out of position in the back four, especially when the two in question, Makin and Wright arent exactly our best players.

Needs New Partner And Fast

Up front it seems a similar story to last season, as soon as we gt a winning combination George Burley wants to change it, his statement that he wanted to rotate the forwards was strange, front runners thrive on confidence and scoring runbs, when they are banging them in, why do you want to go and change it ?

The cynic in me would say that like last year, George Burley seems determined to shoehorn his signings into the side as if to prove himself right in signing them, that was the case for pele and Wright in the centre of midfield last term and can be the only explanantion as to why he would move Stern John up in the pecking order above BWP and Saganowski, John has played barely 10 minutes for Saints whilst both the former have proved their worth and deserve to start ahead of John or Euell for that matter.

So what will George Burley put out against Colchester, its highly likely that Skacel will come back in at left back, but in the other three back line positions he has little choice, although many feel Ostlund should start at home at least.

We have to get a winning run going whilst the league is still open, a win at Watford would have seen us into 4th place ahead of this weeks games, the defeat saw us hovering nearer the bottom, however two straight wins can put us right up there and set us up for two duifficult games against Sheff Utd and West Brom, we arent Chelsea George, when you find the winning combination stick with it, dont change it for changes sake, yes its a squad game, but unlike last year, make players earn their places through merit, the inclusion of Stern John on Sunday made many think little has changed.

Hopefully by the time we go to Brammall Lane we will have a new centre half, because to put it bluntly, if we dont we are going to get mullered.

This is a crucial period in Saints season, we have to get points on the board, BWP said on the official site last week, lets not come back from Watford feeling that we have let ourselves down, unfortunately we did, so lets put it right.

TUI Prediction. Saints to win 4-2.
