The Post Brian Flynn Era Starts At The Vetch Field

Swansea v Scunthorpe - Match Preview

Well the events of the past day or so have certainly overtaken things this week but lets not forget that we have a match tomorrow as Scunthorpe United visit the Vetch (weather permitting) as the post Brian Flynn era gets underway.

There is a 8.30 am pitch inspection scheduled for tomorrow morning at the Vetch but the weather forecast now suggests that the rain may have stopped by then increasing the chances of the game going ahead.

Caretaker manager Alan Curtis will have to decide how many, if any, changes he wants to make from Flynn's last team selection against Macclesfield on Tuesday night. Roger Freestone is widely expected to reclaim his place in goal at the expense of Brian Murphy but it remains to be seen what formation Curtis will play - whether he will stick to Flynn's 4-3-3 formation or revert to something completely different. (0-1-8 anyone?) Certainly out are James Thomas and Krtistian O'Leary although Curtis hopes that there will be the presence somewhere in his squad of leading scorer Lee Trundle.

Scunthorpe duo Ian Kilford and Alex Calvo-Garcia are both nearing full fitness but are unlikely to be included.

Kilford has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, with Calvo-Garcia struggling to overcome an ankle problem.

Skipper Mark Jackson is definitely out after undergoing ankle surgery on Monday.

With the fans clearly split over the departure of the manager it remains to be seen what kind of crowd we can expect at the Vetch especially with the egg chasing on at Twickenham at the same time. However, whatever your feelings on the events of the week now is the time to unite again behind the team and prove that life goes on after a manager - this is after all our football club and we should be proud of it?

A new era begins at the Vetch Field, albeit a temporary one!
