JackArmy.net Inside The Swans New Home

It's been three months since JackArmy.net set foot inside the stadium formerly (and to many still) known as White Rock so today we took the opportunity to have a look around and see exactly how the new stadium was coming along.

Many times over the period of it's construction we have commented on how quick the ground was progressing and, unsurprisingly it is no different on the inside either. Three months back when we took a tour it was hard to envisage the conference and banquet rooms let alone the boxes but now we find them partitioned off and imagining them buzzing with people on matchday is so much easier.

We entered the stadium via the main reception in the West Stand and had a tour of all four views of the stand. On the ground floor level we have the changing rooms, reception desk, creche and 'juniors club' and no detail has been missed including an area for a quick 'off the pitch' interview after any game.

Moving up to the first floor we have the office suites and the chairman's entertaining area together with the hospitality for the match sponsors and the like. The second floor holds the main conference area which can hold up to 600 people and finally on top we have the 29 hospitality boxes.

For your 'Joe Public' fan the seats are already going in and the 'SWAN' of 'SWANSEA' is visible in the east stand as the seats begin to take their shape and it starts to look more and more like a football stadium. The East stand will also house the supporters bar which I am told can hold up to 500 thirsty football fans on matchdays. Roll on!

The stadium is on course to be ready by the end of January with the pitch being seeded in March. From January it is estimated to take around four months to fit out the 'behind the scenes' areas and they hope to open the new stadium with a high profile friendly for the Swans on the weekend of 30/31 July 2005. 10 months to a new beginning!
