Bring On The Goals Says Britton

Leon Britton's last goal came from the penalty spot in the FA Cup.

It was back in January that Britton put the icing on the cake of a fantastic Cup day as the Swans triumphed 3-0 at Bramall Lane, upsetting the odds with a Premiership scalp in the process. And few would have predicted that day that Britton would not score for at least a further 9 months for 30 games have passed since then with nothing from last year's clear winner of every player of the year award.

And he hopes to use today's trip to Billericay to change all that and find himself back amongst the goals as the Swans look to push on in three competitions in the next seven days.

Following today's FA Cup tie, the Swans face Yeovil in the JPT on Tuesday night before Huddersfield arrive at the Liberty on Friday for a league encounter.

But having scored in the first round last year, Britton hopes that the anniversary will alow him to get back amongst the goals as he looks to secure his place in the side following his return from injury

"I'm definitely overdue and the cup's been good to me in the past," said the 25-year-old

"I'd like to carry that on at Billericay because we're talking about a long, long time since I scored.

"Scoring goals is something I've got to put right and perhaps I haven't been working on the training ground in that respect as much as I should have.

"But if I do that, and when chances come along, then hopefully I'll put them away. Hopefully, getting one in the cup will kickstart a goalscoring run.

"It's another non-league team and we know it's going to be a difficult game in a tough atmosphere," said Britton, who recalls playing at Billericay during his youth-team days at nearby West Ham.

"We've got to make sure we're ready for it because it's their cup final. They're going to have a bigger crowd than usual and everything's going to be against us, so we've got to show the right attitude to win.

"You've got to match them physically because they're going to come out at 100 miles per hour and put a few challenges in to let us know they're there. We've got to ride that and hopefully as the game goes on our quality will tell."
