Owain Tudur Jones is a happy man as he takes part in pre-season training

After making his comeback towards the end of last season, the midfielder is enjoying getting himself into shape for the new season rather than continuing his treatment for injury wondering if he would ever get back to full fitness.

In fact, Tudur Jones is already eyeing up a place in the starting line up at Charlton although he accepts that there is some competition ahead of him, even more so now that Roberto has signed up a couple of extra midfield options over the course of the summer.

But that aside he knows he will be part of the squad for next season and told the Western Mail “It feels good to actually be taking part in a full pre-season this time, everything seems to be going well and I’m feeling pretty fit. Everything feels good, there’s no niggles and I’m just looking forward to the games we have coming up.

“We have a strong squad and this is just giving us the best possible chance for next season.

“But for me personally it’s just really good to be back with the boys full-time again.

“I had a taste of it towards the end of last season and, with all the success surrounding our promotion, it was a good time for me to come back.

“It was nice to get a couple of games under my belt but, while I knew I could do a job on the pitch, I wasn’t at the level I know I can be. Now I’m just putting in the hard work this summer to improve my game and get back to where I want to be.

“It’s a new experience for everybody here but it’s not something we are scared of,” he added in reference to the Swans elevation to the Championship level

“With the squad of players we have here, there’s a good chance we will compete in the Championship. I’ve said all along that, while some of these teams have great history and tradition, they are still playing at the same level as us for a reason.

“The playing staff at those sort of teams is not what it used to be 15 years ago. We just need to realise that and understand, like the gaffer keeps telling us, that we are just as good as these players.”

Well said Owain and keep enjoying it....
