The love in between Swansea and Rory Fallon continued with Garry Monk singing the praises of the Plymouth striker

Monk and Fallon were team mates and friends during th Kiwi striker's time at the Liberty and now come head to head tomorrow when they meet at Home Park,

Monk is likely to be given the job to keep Fallon's name off the scoresheet and lead his Swans side onto three more points as they look to move into the top half of the fledgling Championship table.

Fallon was given short change from the Swansea fans in his time at the Liberty Stadium - most of whom will tell you that he never lived up to the huge price tag that was put round his neck when Kenny Jackett grabbed him from Swindon.

Twelve goals in a year wasn't a bad return but it was not enough to keep him at the club and Ian Holloway took him to Plymouth twelve months later with the Swans recouping the whole transfer fee.   However, Monk believes that there was more to offer from Fallon and that he has improved in his 18 months or so in the Championship.

Speaking in tonight's Evening Post, the Swans skipper said "It was a shame the way things worked out for Rory when he was with us

"He was a great lad and a good player and in training we could see the massive potential he had.

"But for some reason it never really worked out for him at Swansea, and sometimes in football that happens.

"But he has shown what a good player he is by going on and doing well in the Championship.

"I think he has definitely improved since he went to Plymouth and we know from his time here that on his day he can be a real handful.

"Rory's going to be right up for it," Monk adds.

"Most players tend to be extra keen to do well when they face a former club, and I remember Rory having a great game for us when we went up to Barnsley, another of his old sides.

"He battered their centre-half that day and I'm sure he's going to be looking to do something similar this weekend."

And speaking of battering's, Monk revealed that he was dazed during the first half of last week's victory over FEC following a clash with Robert Earnshaw - he added "I couldn't see properly for quite a while

"I couldn't make out what the scoreboard said and I could just about make out the other players.

"I was seeing stars for a while and had to go off to get some smelling salts — that's why I kept sniffing my shirt.

"I definitely didn't want to come off and thankfully by the time we started the second half I was all right again."
