Garry Monk says that he will be on the receiving end from the landladies should the Swans lose at Portsmouth

The Swansea City captain will have backing next week from some of his Southampton mates - all of whom will be keen to see him get one over on their fierce rivals.

Monk may have only made 13 appearances for the Saints but the eight years at the club means that he has plenty of friends still with the passion for them which in turn can only mean a rivalry of Portsmouth.

And none more so than two former landladies who were both huge Southampton fans as Monk explained "I've still got a lot of friends down in Southampton like those two ladies.

"They're MASSIVE Southampton fans and they'll be hoping we beat Portsmouth.  I'm sure they're coming to the game so I'll have to get them tickets.

"If we get beat they'll probably have a right go at me.

"I loved my time at Southampton and they looked after me when I was a young player.  They really looked out for me."

Monk though doesn't believe his time at Southampton will signal him out for abuse from the Pompey faithful "I'm not Matthew Le Tissier.  I didn't play that many games for Southampton so maybe I'll slip under thr radar.  I'm hoping Nathan Dyer who is on loan with us from Southampton plays so he gets most of the abuse!

"When I found out after our game at Histon that Portsmouth had won I was chuffed.  This game is extra special because I spent so long at Southampton."
