New striker Stephen Dobbie wants Jason Scotland to remain at the Liberty

Scotland has already been the subject of a seven figure bid this summer and whilst Burnley have been knocked back in that bid there is an expectation that they will be back in for the club's top scorer last season before too much longer.

Dobbie though hopes that the club and the player will resist the temptation to accept the bid and wants instead Scotland to stay and form a partnership with him.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Dobbie said "I would like him to stay, it's important we don't lose our better players.

"And the fans don't want to see the star players leaving.

"I know Jason well from playing against him in Scotland has done really well at Swansea.

"Seeing him do well is another reason why I came down to Wales as Jason came from Scotland and has done well in the Championship and now I hope to be a similar success.

"Jason has great pace, is a powerful striker with two good feet and with his amount of goals he scored last season he is going to get noticed by other clubs.

"Strikers are paid to score goals, as well as helping the team wins, and if you do that well you're going to have bigger teams looking at you and means you're doing you're job."
