Tate: We All Need To Be Clinical

Alan Tate believes that every Swansea player needs to become more clinical in front of goal

The Swans head into their fourth league game of  the campaign this afternoon against Coventry with just Ashley Williams first half header against Leicester to show for their efforts in the league.

Two blanks at home - against Middlesbrough and Reading - have left the Swans with just one point and one place off the bottom three games into the season.

And whilst everyone is pointing at Jason Scotland and Jordi Gomez not yet being replaced goals wise vice-captain Tate believes that all players need to start chipping in - and as soon as possible.

He told the Western Mail “It’s not just the forwards that need to be more clinical, it’s everyone, lots of people had chances on Tuesday and we are putting the emphasis on everyone to take them.

“We should have won of Tuesday because we had our chances. If it had been the other way round and Reading had created our chances, we would have been three or four down.

“It’s only early in the season and sometimes change takes a while, but we do need to take more of the chances we are creating. That will come in time though and it was much the same last year.

“We had a lot of chances to win some of the games we drew. We hope we can push on this year and we start converting them.

“We play this system better than anyone else and we are confident things will soon turn around.

“If we play at our best and anywhere near how we did on Tuesday, then we’ve definitely got a good chance against them (Coventry)  We just need to make sure we are bang up for the game.

“There’s no easy games and Coventry have obviously started well. It’s a tough place to go and they have got some good players.

“They work really hard for each other and they have got goals up front. With the likes of Leon Best, Clinton Morrison and Freddy Eastwood, there is plenty to keep us busy.”
